So, I'm gonna buy N.E.W.S. from Amazon.ca, because I don't think I'll be able to find it in any stores. Anyways, I get free shipping and handling if I order more than $39.00 worth of stuff. So, I've trimmed down my very very long list of CDs I want to a few, based on my current musical mood. Please vote for TWO CDs, for me, as no matter which to you pick, it will put me over the top.

Sav, you have to get Hot Rats! It's a incredible album. I'm not a big fan of the other two.

As for the rest the only titles I'm familair with is the miles stuff, UM Sketches of Spain is really orchestrated and Bitches Brew is pretty abstract it's one that grows on ya considered the first shot fired in fusion, and on the corner is Pretty Funky, so I guess it depends on your mood.

I've heard 6 of the albums above, but my vote for two is easy.

1. Hunky Dory
2. Ok Computer

Go buy! (And once you have them, tell me you can't get "Oh You pretty thing" out of your head for a week!)

hot rats (FZ's most accessible album (if you have zero FZ, start with this one. Then make friends with some weirdo that runs an indie record store (not unlike myself) and listen to his collection to make your next FZ purchase. He's a musical genius, but for every great album he has, he has one that will piss you off to no end...)

ok, saviorfaire, this is actully really difficult! i understand where your coming from though. i recently became infatuated with thelonious monk and had no idea where to start, so i get ya!

if you are at all familiar with bitches brew, and still want to get it, then be sure to get that one! i think it is one of the most magnificent recordings...ever! if you have never heard any of it, though, hold off on it and search for a used copy in a jazz store. it could be a bit much at first...its far off from the two you have. so, in this case, bitches brew will be my default selection (does that make sense?).

assuming you decide against bitches brew (i know, you said just pick two but that is really hard so let me give a 2nd and then a runner up)...bowie's hunky dory is where its at! i was going to say this one regardless. i think its just a better album compared to ziggy. bowie is a music god and should be treated as such (as should miles, by the way). then there is thelonious monk...

ok, so here it is. hunky dory is a must. it stands alone and should be owned by everyone. between the two, monk and miles, my personal choice would be bitches brew (but we've been through this already). the runner up would have to be thelonious monk. i love me some radiohead but we are talking about legends and pioneers in music here, with davis and monk. not that radiohead haven't carved a way of their own, but i just can't justify choosing them over monk or davis.

Obviously y'all can relate to the classics I am choosing between considering the relatively split vote. Still no clear winner.

Also, I do A LOT of research before I ever even consider downloading music to consider buying a CD. I am very picky, and as such have developed a very respectable and concentrated collection of nothing but musical gems (and some Prince stinkers ). Once again, I am familiar with all these CDs, that's why they're on my list. I didn't pull them out of nowhere.
