MJ talks about the new album: "This time I am going to get it right"

In an interview Michael said: "We are doing an album right now. I have drawn in
new managers, new lawyers, new advisors... fresh blood and fresh ideas, you
know? This time I am going to get it right. I think I was losing my objectivity.
I brought Koppelman in because I want somebody honest. The first thing he said
to me was "things have got to change round here or I do not even want to take
this further than this very meeting." That is what I wanted. We are going to
work together, as a team. He said to me "When a lot of people hear your name,
they no longer think of great entertainment... they just focus on the
negative... the tabloid crap, the lies, all lies." I want to change that. I am
100% psyched about the album. I am at a stage in my life where I have seen the
top, I have been there, I know what it is like. I am happy to let other people
do that now. I just want to make music I enjoy." When asked about a release date
he said "It is nearly finished. But there is planning, pre-production, you know,
so much stuff to organise. I am going make sure I get it right this time. I feel
I have still got so much more to give, and I want to prove that to everyone."
Michael alledgedly already played a number of new songs for Charles Koppelman,
who alledgedly said: "There are some big hits a coming!"

I like Michael's new attitude. Especially when he says "I have seen the top.I have been there,I know what it is like.I am happy to let other people do that now.I just want to make music I enjoy".THAT is the right attitude to have.He needed to come back to reality and stop treating every album like it's gonna be another 'Thriller'.He doesn't need all that hype, unreleastic expectations and sales projections.Just make a kickass album and let the fans enjoy it.

More than anything, this is exactly what Michael needs. He needs a strong, opinionated manager who will tell him the truth, challenge his ideas and give honest opinions.Prince could use a manager like that too.

No. The only thing on ET was backstage comments to James Brown. He just said he's working on music, there will be an new album sometime and "movie projects".

This quote was made up but well known BOGUS fansite MJStar. They're famous in the community for making up their own news just to get hits on the website.

So,let's sort out all the rumors we've been hearing...

***RUMOR #1---MJ has worked on a few tracks with Irv Gotti of Murder Inc.This has been confirmed by Gotti himself, who has even described the meeting with MJ at Neverland.

***RUMOR #2---MJ has collaborated with Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees on a few songs (not sure if it's for the new album),it was reported by Billboard.

***RUMOR #3---A possible title for the new CD is 'Resurrection'

***RUMOR #4---MJ is in secret negotiations with Clive Davis to distribute and market this album

Anyone care to add to this list? Does anyone have any rumored song titles?

Irv Gotti - no comment as of yet. May have worked together. No details on whether anything will eventually be released.

Barry Gibb - 100% correct

Resurrection - False

Clive Davis - False, no comment on anything to do with Universal either.

===

See, these "rumours" get spread around so much, eventually it's MJ who the eagerly waiting public get mad at, because he doesn't deliver what he never promised in the first place.

It is all happening behind the scenes. I don't know why and how, but I can feel something coming, and I didn't with the run-up to Invincible. If we haven't heard any official news in 6 months, I'll eat my hat. And you can quote me on that. Of course I'll have to buy a chocolate fedora, but so be it.

I am a little hesitant to comment on this "quote", as several people seem to believe it's not true..

BUT,
since it's been posted, I am going to presume that it's true-
until I hear otherwise from "Entertainment Tonight"..

1st, the whole "this time I'm going to get it right" comment clearly implies that Michael saw "invisble"
(oops! I mean)
invincible
was minimally a "commercial failure"..
& maybe even.. that the great, self-proclaimed "king of pop" actually contributed to the album's overwhelmingly underwhelming performance..

Specific comments:

"I think I was losing my objectivity.."
-> UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE LAST 15 YEARS. Michael is just noticing this "loss of objectivity" NOW?

"That is what I wanted. We are going to work together, as a team."
-> I give Michael credit for at least acknowledging that having help isn't the worst thing to do, unlike another talented but past-his-prime singer (whom everyone here knows) refuses to even admit..

"I am at a stage in my life where I have seen the top, I have been there, I know what it is like.."
-> DAMN! Michael must be listening to "My Name Is Prince" a lot recently!

"I am going make sure I get it right this time."
-> Michael will have a chance to "get it right" when he spends more time focusing on simply making GOOD music that's not overproduced by all the trendy "flavor-of-the-month" producers out there..
Michael will get it right when he stops trying to sell 50 TRILLION copies of the record, using obscene amounts of money (that could feed WHOLE COUNTRIES for a year) just to promote the record..
& Michael will have a chance to get it right when is focus is more on making music than with sharing his bed with pre-adolescent boys..

Charles Koppelman said:
"There are some big hits a coming!"
-> ISN'T THIS WHAT CLIVE DAVIS SAID ABOUT "rave unto the joy fantastic???

Michael Jackson fans:
PLEASE DON'T BE OFFENDED.
Although I have regularly been a critic of Michael's light, fluffy, predictable, clichéd, very radio-friendly music of the last 20 years or so,
I have NEVER denied he has talent.
I'm PROUD to say I own "Off The Wall", it's 1 of the BEST albums I've ever heard in my life (& not surprisingly, I think that this is BY FAR his best album)
He is (was?) 1 of the best dancers ever..
even if I "hated" Michael-

& I DO NOT-

his talent as a singer & dancer is undeniable.

In my opinion, he got caught up in trying to duplicate
(at least commercially)
the literally once-in-a-1000-years success of "Thriller"..
something he shouldn't have tried to do.
Plus, putting out a record once every 5 years in a market that is SO FICKLE & is so used to MEDIOCRE talent (at best), doesn't help either..

If Michael is somehow able to put out another album in the same vein as "Off The Wall", in terms of music quality, etc.-
I DON'T MEAN AN ALBUM THAT SOUNDS JUST LIKE IT-
MORE POWER TO HIM,
I will NOT be "hatin" on him, I will probably buy the record myself!
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Honestly, the quote is fake. It's not even worth commenting on at such length.

MJ already said he didn't view Invincible as a commercial failure. OK, so maybe he was disappointed because it could have done a hell of a lot better if promotion hadn't been stopped after all of 2 months.

We're dealing with one hell of an ego here. Would Prince admit he made a mistake like that? All that "I'm going to get it right this time... find some objectivity". You think MJ would admit openly that he's been surrounded by "yes-men" as of late? Hell no. If he has or not, I've been a fan since I was 4 and know about as much as possible about the man that you can without ever having met him wink It's nothing but a bogus quote. You want the actual ET report? It's a short piece if nothing: http://koti.mbnet.fi/visa1/BETBS2.wmv - there was no interview with any ET reporter.

Because before all the trash with Invincible there was a lot of shit going on with the MJ boards online. Fake insiders, fansites making up news, real "fanatics" getting on everyone's nerves etc. A lot of people just got sick of it and branched out trying to create a place where any "news" reported was official. MJJForum.com and MJNI have contacts with his management, and a few of the members work behind the scenes in the music industry. There are people asking questions here there and everywhere all the time. I just sit back and pay attention.

about that collaboration between mike and the murder inc. camp: man i heard their song 'can't get you off my mind' and it must be the worst thing mike's delivered in the last decade. man, i'm not that keen on the invincible album, but it did have some decent poptunes for the mtv's and bet's. this, however, sounded like crap. i know it's probably a demo or a rough cut or whatever. it's still terrible. if this is what we can expect then i fear the worst for mike..

Maybe because that song si also a FAKE. It's by some French dude called Nicolas Piedras and is on his album called "The Song Name".
