The Pop Group They had to be, like, one of the greatest groups I've ever heard come out of the Post-Punk era. There's absolutely nothing from the past, present, or future that sounds remotely like these guys. They mixed Punk, Funk, Dub, Free-Jazz, and Experimental noise to create a sound all their own. Sure, other groups like Gang of 4 & the Au Pairs had their political subject matters, but Mark Stewart took it a step further with his blatant rants about the truth. Who else has heard their leftist classics like "We Are Time" or "She Is Beyond Good & Evil" or "We Are All Prostitutes"? I only began to get into these guys late last year, but the Pop Group already has a fan in me. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I got the Japanese CD import. I think it's great. The singer sounds a bit like Nick Cave. Members of this group went on to form a Jazz-Funk group with Neneh Cherry..

I've decided to bring tis thread back up. Why, you ask? Because they were a great f***in' band and I think they deserve more recognition than they have. I know they sounded a bit extrene but it was also innovative. They just rock, basically. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
