I remember this song. I used to like The 5th Dimension back in the day. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

"Stoned Soul Picnic" is one groovy cut! I liked "Age of Aquarius" because I thought I could claim the song because of my zodiac sign, but I was actually born on the cusp.
Remember when their version of "Love Hangover" came out right around the same time as Diana Ross'? Funny, when I think of this song now it's Diana's version that's comes to mind, it's my favorite. Hey, what are McCoo & Davis doing these days anyway?

O.K., does anybody know what the opening words are to "Stoned Soul"?? I NEVER could figure them out as a young'n, and I still can't.
"Can you ___, can you picnic? Whoa, whoa. . ."

"Can you ___, can you picnic? Whoa, whoa. . ." When I first saw this thread I started singing "Surrey down...stone soul picnic..." Then I'm thinking, "Surrey?" is that right? I'd always sung it this way but have no idea what it means.

In elementary school my class performed the play "Oklahoma" and there was this song called "Surrey with the Fringe on Top". I'm not sure what it was--a buggy, perhaps? You know, I'm just gonna have to look the word up!

Here we go again...a lot of 5th Dimension's hits(including Stoned Soul Picnic) are cover versions of songs composed & originally performed by an extraordinary singer-songwriter-musician.
And her versions are FAR superior-hint:look at my avatar... I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos
