Alana Davis

I think Alana is a amazingly talent artist. I am listening to her "Blame It On Me" album and I was suddenly struck with the urge to devote a thread to this unsung talent. I have both of her LPs, including 2001's overlooked gem "Fortune Cookies" and love every minute. Alana deserved the accolades that Norah Jones is receiving, too bad her now-former record label Elektra (known to Alana and her fans as "Neglecktra" for their mismanagement and nonpromotion) didn't see the light of day. She's currently an independent artist and she's releasing an album later this year.

What are your thoughts on Alana? Have any of her albums? Favorite songs? Leave your feedback.

Keep up with Alana at www.alanadavis.com

She was that neo-singer/sogwriter who had thathit back in the late '90s with "32 Flavors", right?

Yes. 32 Flavors.

The CD with that song is great. I got it, but only after getting the songwriter's record first - Ani DiFranco wrote 32 Flavors.

ANI DiFranco is a legend. And yes, she did a song with Prince. If you like acoustic music with more than an whiny message, check out her live double CD "Living In Clip" - it is awesome, funky, heavy, deep, groovy and funny.

But yeah, Alana Davis had an amazing future with that song, it's a shame what a record label can do to talent.
