I was there, but had to leave before they got there. Oh well, see them at the NAMM everytime anyway.
The Rockwalk is in the front entrance of Guitar Center in West Hollywood on Sunset Blvd...next to the Sunset Grill...of song fame. I think that as fabulous as Earth Wind and Fire are, they should really get a HOLLYWOOD walk of fame for recording, songwriting, contibutions to entertainment overall, I don't know about it being at a corporate retail store, but whatever... It was cool with Steve Harvey there and at least it was a cool little celebration for them...! Heres some photos of the event... Great to see the original members were there to accept! http://www.earthwindandfire.com/

Yeah, and listen to Philip's vocals, you can tell it's from the 70s because he can't hit notes like that these days...lol...the last track on the album ("Dirty") was also recorded in the fall of '78,when they were preparing the 'I Am' album.

Did you buy their 3-CD box set "The Eternal Dance",which came out in 1992? It's filled with many rarities, such as alternate versions, rare live versions, and several unreleased outtakes ("Night Dreamin" is a great song!).Their recent remastered CDs all contain bonus tracks,as well.If you order the Japanese version of 'The Promise',you get two bonus tracks that don't appear on the U.S. version..."Soul" and "So Lucky",composed with ?uestlove.Similiarly, the Japan version of the 'Live In Rio' CD contains a bonus track, the new song "Ain't No Remedy" (an outtake from 'The Promise'). www.homdrum.no/ewf/

Thanks Dave! I didn't buy the set when it came out back then cuz I couldn't afford it, but I know this spot here in Chicago where I can probably find that set and the import. Thank for the tips and your knowledge. You rock!

Since I triple posted, do you know David, what is going on with the tour? I see unfortunately that it is not selling very well. [This message was edited Wed Jul 9 7:33:02 PDT 2003 by stymie]

Really? I read a few tour reports and it looks like they're playing to mostly capacity crowds. In my area, the demand was so great that they added a third show.At a recent NY performance,Maurice White made a guest appearance just like he promised. If he were to appear at EVERY show, this tour would be an even bigger success!

I have so many favorite EW&F songs, but I'll narrow this list down to just five songs... "Fantasy" (1977) "Can't Hide Love" (1975) "Clover" (1973) "You And I" (1979) "Getaway" (1976)

My affection belongs to these though: Wait-my absolute favorite On Your Face Evil Side By Side I Write A Song

"Clover" appears on their 1973 'Head To The Sky' album, which you MUST check out.I am praying that this album gets remastered someday,it's a masterpiece.

EW&F albums that really need to be re-mastered...
'Last Days and Time' (1972) 'Head To The Sky' (1973) 'I Am' (1979) 'Faces' (1980) 'Raise' (1981) Maurice White has mentioned that the albums 'I Am' and 'Faces' are currently being re-mastered right now.Hopefully,we will get them sometime later this year. www.homdrum.no/ewf/ www.voy.com/38757/

I agree on these:
'Last Days and Time' (1972) 'Head To The Sky' (1973) 'I Am' (1979) Larry Dunn's solo on "MOM" is reason enuff for "Last Days..." "Who gon' clean up all deez Flowers" ----Eddie Murphy as mr. clarence

EW&F has just released the song "Never" as the second single from their new CD 'The Promise'.In my area,it's getting some radio airplay. It's a great song, with a wonderful Latin vibe...very intoxicating arrangement (one fan refers to it as "Fantasy 2003").I hope they shoot a video and maybe do some remixes.
Meanwhile, while the group continues their summer tour,Maurice is in the studio producing a new CD by the Emotions.
