Could she have ALREADY done it? Become the Princess?? Could Madonna have pulled off being the female Prince? Just sitting here listening 2 her "Frozen" song and thinking about her "Ray Of Light" album/phase. This woman has gone through so many different sounds and transformations like Prince and managed to keep the same smoldering sexuality like him. She tied up religion and sexuality controversially like him. I mean damn, Madonna has done it all similiar to him. Including the campy 80's videos that I hate If this be the case, Im upset I wanted to be the female Prince!!
The only thing I can say that she's doing differently than him is continuing her career mainstream & still shaking her groove thang sinuosly unlike our rainbow child. &

In terms of pure entertainment value, I tend to agree with you. But until Madonna can say that she Produced, Composed, Arranged and Performed an entire body of work, to call her a female Prince is a huge overstatement (in my opinion). -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, in the entertainment aspect, yes, she has.
But for musicianship, HELL NO! Don't get me wrong, I love me some Maddy, but uh, naw . ~KiKi

In my opinion, Madonna is a perfect example of what happens to an artist when they make a bunch of money for their record company and then stay loyal to that record company and do whatever they tell you to do to make more money for them.
And that is not a criticism of Madonna, but just pointing out the how and why she has remained relatively popular over the years. Goes to show that if an established artist like Madonna plays by the rules, the record company will see to it that their cash cow is milked for everything it's worth. I suppose that if Prince wanted to, he could've done the same. In all honesty, sometimes I wish Prince did go the Madonna route. But the vast majority of the other times, I am very glad he did not. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The female "Prince"
OH No you didn't LOL She is Deborah Harry and Bjork imposonator at best from 1983 - 1995, she took the pure talent of Deborah Harry and made it mainstream for the masses Then after that She took next most imporatnt Female artist to step on the pop scence "Bjork" took her style and made it mainstream Prince aint no bitter, he's original and has little thing called "Talent" [This message was edited Sun Jul 6 3:59:08 PDT 2003 by twink69]

When she can play:
A guitar solo like the famous "Just My Imagination" from the 88 aftershows. A Bass line like 777-9311 A drum track like Tamborine A piano solo like Sexy Dancer. Perhaps then she'll be Princess. Besides, isn't there already a princess on this board who has kids for Prince? (Don't go there? OK, sorry.) She took the the musical and business crew of MJ (Freddie Mann (spelling may be wrong) Jonathan Moffet, David Williams and mixed it with the Prince Sex and Religion angle and there you have it. Maybe you could compare her to Mae West. To her credit as far as the pure music itself her melodies are very good and she understands pop music.

And NO Madonna isnt an accomplished musician like he, but shes a helluva performer or at least u used to be. &

Co-sign. I love Madonna. She's got balls. She has the ability to write catchy melodies. She has staying power. But she isn't an AMAZING musician/producer like Prince is. She gets a lot of help, because she has a lot of money.

I would argue that, throughout the years,Madonna hasn't exactly done "whatever her record company told her to do".She has never been a record company puppet (like so many of today's female artists). She has pretty much done her own thing and because she's been successful at it,Warners really had no choice but to go along with it.For example,I heard that Warner execs cringed when she told them she wanted to do the "Sex" book, but who's gonna argue with the most successful female artist on the planet? Madonna doesn't "play by the rules",she simply makes and breaks her own rules.

Madonna doesn't "play by the rules",she simply makes and breaks her own rules. You may be right. I certainly haven't followed her career close enough to argue against your point. But it's just that aside from playing the "outrageous sex card" the way that Prince once used to do for shock and entertainment value, musically speaking it just appears to me that she's consistently done that which is acceptable in the pop realm of music. And in that regard, I think lots of money has been made for her record company, which of course is the most desired result of most major labels. And because of the money factor, she continues to enjoy all the rights and priveledges that a major label can expend on her behalf. Which, in my opinion, lends itself to her continued financial success and popularity. It's the old "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" game. The difference between Madonna and Prince is that unlike Prince, Madonna I don't believe has the same desire to stray artistically the way that Prince does. And that's cool and all. But because of that difference, I don't think you can really put her and Prince in the same league, because in my opinion they are both playing two totally different games. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WASHOUT? what exactly does it mean?
because you may be over her doesn't mean she's washed out Her last album has sold more than Madonna if she's washed out then MADONNA must need a lifejacket anyway at 33 Mraih has sold more albums and more number ones that Madonna and the whole calling really succesfull "Artists" WASHED UP, just makes there comebacks all the more bigger ie:Ray of Light

I'm not a big fan of her recent stuff, but I'm sick of pepople hating on her. I mean, if you, like me, don't like her, fine, but you don't have to diss her. let her do her thing. Same goes with Madonna, twink. Just because an artist/performer/whatever sells more doesn't mean that they're better; you may like that performer better, but you don't have to put down someone else. ~KiKi
