Omar fans?

any omar fans out there? If you check his site, there will be other shows in the US posted as well.

one of the promoters e-mailed this info to me.
this guy puts most american soul musicians to shame talentwise. as i'd mentioned before, omar rolls with stevie wonder.

before d' angelo, maxwell...all those cats. omar has been around doing his
thing. definitely one of my favorite artists ever. he has actually worked
with common on his latest album, lamont dozier (wrote a lot of motown hits), angie stone, caron wheeler (from soul II soul and erasure), and erykah badu. also old dirty bastard (lol), and carleen
anderson (who is great also). stevie wonder is a close friend of his actually, and has worked
with him several times as well as stevie's ex-wife named syreeta wright who has an excellent voice by the way. omar lye-fook is from london but is of jamaican chinese father and east indian descent on his mother's side. his site says his music is like a mix between classical, r&b, funk and jazz. i'd say that sounds right more or less but you can not really typecast this guy. his lyrics are much more intelligent as well. just judge for yourself if you can make it. but pass this on if you can.

I didn't know Omar has been around all this time. When I heard him on Common's "Electric Circus," I thought it was some cat trying to sound like Bilal. sad

he has been around officially since '91. in london, i think he made buzz before that as well. serious, this cat is so underrated it is pathetic.

ARE WE THINKING ABOUT THE SAME STEVIE?

If so, could you kindly tell us where they're rolling towards so we can put an end to this objectionable entanglement?

If I could go, I definitely would. I've got a few of his live shows and he's just as great on stage. I just hate that his name isn't mentioned as quickly as the D'Angelo's, Erykah Badu's and Jill Scott's when it comes to the new revolution of "classic soul" because pretty much helped get it started.

yes, it should not be that hard to understand. the same stevie wonder that just about everyone on this planet has heard of. is that more specific? unless you just like being that trivial in dissecting my phrasing. stevie has been very vocal about his respect and admiration for omar. so to some extent, i was saying that they are friends. hope this clears that up for you.

i agree. i rarely hear of any artists outside of the u.s. receiving praise within the united states except for when it comes from musicians.

Exactly! Her debut LP should have been bigger than Soul II Soul in the US. I was certain that Blue (Is the Colour of Pain) would be the one that reeled everybody in. But it fell on deaf ears here.
