Summer 2003 Battle of the R&B Divas---who will come out on top?

Monica
Ashanti
Mya
Beyonce

All four of these ladies have just released new CDs.Who will come out on top? So far,it looks like Beyonce has the edge. But I've heard the Monica CD and there are some strong future singles on it.This could get interesting...

I'd wish for Mya. But Beyonce is pretty much doing it

Well Ashanti may out do the all, unfortunately
Her new album has debuted at number with sales over 320 k
Someone has compared her to JANET, here have a look:

Wherehouse Music Urban music buyer extraordinaire Violet Brown is even more pumped than usual, after handily defeating Bob Bell in the company’s annual Fourth of July three-legged race: "With her sophomore album, Ashanti has proven herself to be an artist that’s going to be around for a while. She seems to be filling the Janet Jackson void right now. The single reminds me of Janet’s ‘That’s The Way Love Goes’—it has that kind of vibe—and the video is incredible. We thought that the album would be huge, and we bought it that way. But it absolutely lived up to expectations. And now, I look forward to whipping Bell’s butt in the Labor Day hot-dog eating contest."

Well said they are not diva's yet or will they ever be
Remember when been Diva meant, you had a talent that was so unique and inspiring???
Patti, Aretha, Mariah, Whitney, Chaka ( Christina could join that list, although he talen is debatable)
or had some cultural relevance Madonna & Janet (even thought I aint a big fan, they earn diva staus)

Monica - she is like sooo 1998. She stepped away from the spotlight for a very long time. Hopefully, she can pick up some steam? I am not feeling "So Gone" or "All Eyez On Me"
Ashanti - the space-filler for Janet...like Damon Wayans would say, "uhhh...nah."
Mya - I like her style. I hope she comes out on top. I can see her going platinum with this next album.
Beyonce - She's the current media darling so of course she's going to be on top.

Overall
1st: Beyonce
2nd: Mya
3rd: Monica
4th: Ashanti

As far as sales, its really between Beyonce and Ashanti and I see Beyonce having more staying power because people really like to hate Ashanti (well, they love to hate Beyonce but that is fading a bit). Stick a fork in Monica's album because I think she is done, just like Brandy's "Full Moon". One hit single and another one that might do okay, and the album might, just might sell a million. I don't know for sure, just guessing. As for Mya, how I really prefer, I don't think the single is that great but the video is. It's kind of boring pop with an R&B vibe but who knows what it will do on the charts. I think, unfortunately, her album will be the lowest selling but dare I say it, overall, she might be the real diva. She's managed to stick around for quite a while and put out albums at a good pace (unlike Monica with 1994, 1998 and 2003, at least 4 years between albums and nearly the same with Brandy) and a number of hit singles by herself and with others. I think she might be the real diva of the group. I do like the Beyonce album but something tells me her dad is going to screw up her career.

I know, I see it know, When she tries and break away from him there should be fireworks
I don't mind the album, but if she keeps the family on the payroll, it may not work for her
She'll need to move with times and her Mom makes her look like a 1980's drag queen and her dad is giving her a sound to match
and the "Tina Turner tribute show" will wear thin
She needs to ditch mom and pops

The only one with an ounce of credibility is Monica, so let's hope for her.

Unfortunately, Ashanti has doubled Beyonce's earnings with her first week's album sales. People really have no taste at all.

A lot of people thought that Monica's album was going to be really good, but there are really only three good songs on there. One of them being "So Gone." The rest of the album is garbage.

well in terms of sales i think it will be

1.ASHANTI
2.MONICA
3.BEYONCE
4.MYA

but as far as quality heres my reviews on all

1.MYA...4.5 stars
2.BEYONCE...3 stars
3.MONICA...2 stars
4.ASHANTI...1 star

Monica and Ashanti are boring as hell, Beyonce is better than I thought it would be. And as far MYA every track isHOT and a different style
