Aretha Franklin & Other Fellow Artists??

Whats really between Aretha & those ladies:

Natalie Cole
Gladys Knight
Chaka Khan
Tina Turner

She seems kinda tense when people ask her about Miss Cole & Gladys Knight, what happend between them? And what are her views about the rest of the ladies in that list?

I'm asking this cuz I've been in the net 4 hours trying to get my hand on anything about that but I couldn't find any.

I read Natalie Cole's book 'Angel On My Shoulder' and she talks alot about her feud with Aretha in the 70s.When Natalie burst onto the scene in 1975 with her debut hit "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)",alot of critics were calling her "the next Aretha Franklin".Natalie wasn't fazed by the hype but apparently Aretha was offended, especially since her own career wasn't going so great during this time.As the 70s wore on,Natalie had hit after hit while Aretha's late 70s output wasn't being well-recieved.According to Natalie, this created bad feelings, and on several occasions,Aretha refused to say hi or even acknowledge Natalie when she saw her.

These days, the two ladies are friends though.

Thanks for the info, but don't you think it was rather petty of Aretha to be jealous of the success of Natalie? If anything, she should've taken it as a compliment and steped her game up instead of hating. Oh well...I'm glad to know that it's all good between them now.

I have the Gladys book too,I'll have to go back and read what she says about Aretha smile

I do know that,in the mid-80s,there was a little "friction" between Gladys,Dionne Warwick and Patti LaBelle when they all did that "Sisters In The Name Of Love" concert special. But that's another thread...lol...
