Peter Gabriel's "Up"

Just bought my first CD of his. "Up" is really good. I would recommend to any who want something new and different!

I can't get into this one at all. "So" is brilliant, "Us" is a really nice pop album, but "Up" seems like a retread of everything we're used to from the guy. I hate to think he's all dried up as a songwriter, but maybe he should stick to scoring film soundtracks...? "Passion" was wonderful, and "Birdy" and "Rabbit Proof Fence" are also quite nice.

I'm so fucking glad I'm not the only one. This one definitely needs to be given away or exchanged for something else.

Doesn't take away from the dense beauty of "Us," though. And ain't no doubt the man can score a mean movie.

I should go through my CD's...I think the shop down the road will take 3 for 1 or something like that. Hmm...

Love, Love, LOVE 'Passion', an amazing, amazing piece of work.
Real World Studios is but a fart and a skip away from me funnily enough...

"Passion" used to be my music of choice for doing the do, but after a while it seemed like everyone was using that for getting-busy music and it lost its specialness in that regard...though it's a strong commentary to the power of that album that it's up there with Barry White's (RIP) Greatest Hits for music to get your stank on to.

i was really disappointed by UP. It just bores me to tears. So and Security are absolutely brilliant records, and US has it's moments... but UP really disappointed me.

I'm with you, Ken.

I love the others as well, but from Fear on thru, this album does it for me.

Thanks 4 the post.

You have to admit that the production on this recording is very good. He has a lot of crazy sounds burried in these soungs and it still comes across as good clean recordings. I like this album. You have to be in the mood for it, but it has some good moments on it. Granted, all of the songs are too long and there really isn't any "singles" on the album.
