but hey, that's what happens when you don't live right, eat right, and exercise right, and you're hundreds of pounds overweight that's just a silly thing to say, who do you fuckin think you are?

it isn't a silly thing to say. the man was fat, and he died the death of a fat man.

Barry White is truly in a class by himself, making music that is as beautifully orchestrated as it is soulfoul..

& that DEEP VOICE..

I'm very inclined to that that most women who hear that voice for more than 5 minutes would start to, um, have a certain amount of moisture in a certain area on their anatomy..

I genuinely believe, though, that as SENSUAL & as SEXY as BW's music is,
as many babies have been conceived while their parents were listening to this very same music..
I think the main theme of his music is & has always been about LOVE

I'm more than a little suprised
(should I be?)
that the media hasn't done more reporting on this so far!
BW is clearly 1 of the biggest names (NO PUN INTENDED) in popular music, in his or any other generation..

what, did he have to die in an airplane crash for it to be really "newsworthy"? did there have to be some tawdry sex scandal for people to want to take notice???

This is what I would like to know.

As a very small way to HONOR "The Maestro of Love",
here are my favorite Barry White songs:

I Wanna Do It Good To Ya - 12" VERSION
VERY sexy, almost "minimalist" instrumentation..
I love the "I wanna put a lot of heat.. on your meat" line.
This 12" has been out of print for many years now, but just recently I've found copies of it, available in the UK..
I MUST GET MY HANDS ON A (VERY GOOD) COPY OF THIS.

It's Ecstasy (When You Lay Next To Me)
GREAT bassline, exhuberant horns & frolicking strings..
a signature BW classic

Playing Your Game, Baby
sexy horns, hypnotic guitar riff..
the long (album) version of this classic is worth taking your time getting into..
Chuck Brown often does a NICE version of this 1 at his shows..

Honey Please, Can't You See
1 of his "poppier" songs, but still good. the way the "can't you see" refrain is repeated towards the end of the song just drives it home..

You're The First, The Last, My Everything
EXCELLENT all the way around; the way he does the spoken intro "we've got it together, baby.." & the way the intro music- especially the strings- builds up into the 1st verse..
the "ahh.. ahh.. ooh" female background singing..

I also liked his part in Quincy's Secret Garden..

I think that every person who is.. "able to"..
should honor Barry White by playing his music while

making love

with their partner..

I think BW would REALLY dig that..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Ain't no such thing as eating right...every other day,you can turn on the news, and they're telling you about something else that supposedly isn't good for ya,and then you turn on something else, and some "expert" says that it is.
I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

This is so weird. My aunt went to the same middle school as Barry White (he grew up in Los Angeles) back in the 1960s and she said that they used to goof off together in school. She called the rest of my family and told us of his passing and that's how I learned of his untimely death. He passed away at such a young age. His impact is felt. He will be dreadfully missed.

Damn, you hit that shit right on the nose with I Wanna Do It Good To Ya. I never hear anyone talking about that track, but it's hot as SHIT!! My fav track from him has to be You Turned My Whole World Around, though! Now THIS is a classic!!!

Indeed, Barry is, and will always be, missed. RIP, brother!
