I gotta admit...MJ shut it down..

Ok

1. He finally stepped into the Millenium with the outfit...thank God...

2. He gave James the cape...and respect...

3. He did the James Brown moves...a la 1983...(ya'll know the tape)

4. MJ was HUMBLE and thanked James for his influence...

I gotta admit MJ does some brainless stuff...this was smart...and respectful...reminds me why I still love Michael.

Prince???

And where were U?

U were supposed 2 B there...

sigh

We are praying 4 U brotha...

Ha! And there was James Brown a few months ago saying MJ doesn't give him the right respect. Could you imagine that goon Timberfake doing this for Michael in 5-10 years? Aside from the fact that MJ is an award show whore and has probably won 95% of the Lifetime Achievement awards available wink

The cape butler
is Mr Danny Ray
Mr Brown's legendary Emcee since 1964

The man standing behind Mr Brown, MJ and LaToya backstage
is Mr Roosevelt Johnson
Mr Brown's personal assistant since 1970
who gets to sing "Soul Man" in the James Brown show
every once in a while.

MJ did his thing!!! headbang I always thought that he patterned his dancing more so off of Jackie Wilson, though. I can definitely see James's influence on MJ (especially at the end of his little 20-sec dance spotlight). But I guess he really does look up to JB seeing as everytime they showcase Micheal's career, they play that Jackson 5 audition tape of him imitating James.

I just saw the video. Yeah, MJ started off as a James Brown imitator. He found his own style and incorporated all his influences together by the time he was about 15 though. Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Sammy Davis Jnr. and Fred Astaire are the greats that influenced him the most.

Everyone keeps asking where was Prince. Prince would never show up at anything where Michael was given the honour of saluting James Brown. If Prince wasn't asked to do it, he sure as hell isn't going to show up to watch MJ do it.

Well, MJ has had a lot of influences, and I am glad that he took the time to give props to James Brown.

Prince should do the same. twocents

MJ looks like he rummaged through Prince's "Diamonds and Pearls" wardrobe closet, and that ain't a good thing.
Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
