Maurice White joins Earth Wind and Fire at their NY concert!!

Well,it looks like the rumors were true! Maurice White, longtime leader and vocalist for Earth Wind and Fire, has indeed joined the guys on their summer tour.He recently appeared at their New York concert, which took place at the Beacon Theatre (Finess, why weren't YOU there??).A buddy of mine attended this show, here is what he had to say...

"I really have to say this ranks up there as the best EW&F show I have ever been to...period.They did their usual opening "In The Stone" and not in this order...played "Singasong"",bits of "Sun Goddess","Serpentine Fire","Shining Star","Can't Hide Love","After The Love Has Gone","Love's Hoiday".People were chanting for Maurice from the beginning and we were wondering when he was coming out. They moved into "Be Ever Wonderful" and just as the song began, the Captain,Maurice, came out...people were screaming, jumping up and down, crying (I know I was) and it was sooo emotional. You almost couldn't hear him at first because of all the noise.

He sang great, loooked great and brought all those memories back. Then I believe they went into "All In The Way" (new single) and Maurice sang that too.The crowd was already on it's feet, and was dancing even if some of them had not heard the song before.Maurice left the stage and the band played a few other songs like "System Of Survival","Boogie Wonderland" and a few more. Then Maurice came back and they simply TORE THE HOUSE DOWN when they did "September...literally the house was on fire, everyone was up,jumping,singing,screaming,everything...I could almost feel myself losing control because I was in heaven and having the time of my life. Then came "Evil",there he was,the master himself, strapping on the wires to his kalimba and coming out to the front of the stage as if it was back in the 70s.

Philip (Bailey) sang the vocals to the tune and Maurice did his kalimba thing out front.I cannot really describe what an experience this was.It was as if we were transported back to the time when the Fire was in their prime, and Maurice was in charge of commanding the troop.I had tears in my eyes. Then they kicked it up again with "Let's Groove".After a short break, they returned and played "Devotion","Keep Your Head To The Sky".Then they started the familiar strains of "That's The Way Of The World" and when Phil hugged Maurice and had his arm around him as the song began,it was a kodak moment.I had tears in my eyes as Maurice started singing, realizing that it was a singular privilege to have witnessed this event."

Damn,I would have killed to have been at that show!! Seeing Maurice White back on-stage with the fellas?? I would have went out of my mind.

cry I'm crying just READING that!

I was SOOO DISAPPOINTED that Ford Motor Company cancelled the EWF appearance during the Ford 100 Celebration here in Detroit (actually Dearborn). And I missed a chance to see them up in Mt. Pleasant (about 2 and a half hours north of here).

I would have DIED to have seen Maurice again. . .

I'm just praying that somebody taped this concert smile

I don't think Maurice is gonna pop up at every show,so when he does,it's a big deal. The guys should release this show on DVD.
