What ticks me off about Madonna

You know I have loved Madonna through out the years, I thought she was a brave woman, who did what she believe regardless of what anybody else thought of her, but looking at this last album American Life, I'm slowly starting 2 loose much respect 4 her. I'm starting 2 see she's really like everybody who's in it all 4 the cha-ching, in other words $$$ I mean How many of you have seen the new video Hollywood?? I was having high hopes for this video, after being highly disapointed from the last one only 2 b united with the same feeling again disbelief. It's really sad 2 see a artist you love growing up get old. She can still move in all, but don't y'all remember the Saturday Night Live skit where there was 2 old ladies who was still trying 2 perform on broadway, they thought they where still good, but really people where laughing at them and thought they where a joke, because they where Old... Well with this new madonna video,I can't help but 2 get reminded of that skit... madonna is a old who's still trying 2 be young lol She still doing the shock that made her career. This is what makes me appreciate the fact that I am a Prince fan. Prince except the fact that he's older and can't do what he use to do back in the 80's. He's not like Micheal Jackson or Madonna who's still trying chase after fame, even though they pretty much conquered the pop scene. ... Don't get me wrong I love Madonna, but I say it's time 4 a new act, because this is really getting old and tired nod

So what do you consider OLD? I for one don't think she's trying to be anything or anyone except herself. I don't find the video for "Hollywood" shocking at all. As for her 'doing it for the money', I don't think she's going to be financially crippled any century soon! I respect your opinion, but I just don't see that at all. Yes I am biased because I LOVE that woman to no end. However I still keep an open mind to what she comes up with. And I think everything you mentioned is EXACTLY what that song is about.
Now back to the OLD thing...She still looks great to me! jerkoff At what age does sexiness or creativity reach a slump? If Prince was still getting a wide exposure in the media would say the same about him? The make up, clothes, music..It's entertainment and art and he nor Madonna should have anything to worry about as far as a fan base or the next up and coming 'pop' star. They set the standard; and continue to raise it.

you know it's different with men take George Burnes for example and When I saw this video I couldn't help but 2 notice all the wrinkles she had underneath her make up, then she does that one skit where she's getting the botox's shots hmm ... If Madonna didn't care about the money, then she still would've released the original video 2 American Life... I don't know about y'all but it just ain't like Madonna 2 back down from something unless Money (is the key word) is involved. You say Money don’t have much do with it, but she’s a 45 yr old mother with 2 kids, shouldn’t she be at home??

I know it's just your opinion but you know that noone ever says that somebody young looks "good for her age" (not counting R. Kelly). "That Alicia Keys looks damn good for her age". I don't think so. That just proves how old Madonna is! wink

Just because someone is getting older doesn't mean they have to stop what they do for a living. However, Madonna's latest rant is about not being materialistic. I saw an interview with her the other day and I couldn't stand listing to her go on about how we should all forget about material possessions and how much money we have in our bank accounts and what fancy car we drive. Please! I couldn't believe one word she was saying.rolleyes

This stop this selfish Madonna speech! It's geting older than her!

I don't buy the money thing at all. She backed down because both VH1 and MTV were about to issue statements saying they were either going to air it once (the case with VH1, for sure) or not air it at all (probably the stance MTV would have taken). What would have been the point? What good is a controversial video if it isn't going to be played on regular TV? If it would have been refused, imagine the furor if she would have done the "Justify My Love" bit. I think in the short term, if she would have released the video, it would have helped and liberals that didn't give a rat ass about Madonna would have supported the album just because she made a pro-peace/anti-war video. Shit, Michael Moore posted a link to buy her album on his site for a while. In the long run, she made a good call because no one was going to play it anyway! I seriously think Madonna's personal reasons for pulling the video might have been justified (no pun intended). I don't think she wanted to be the liberal scapegoat/martyr for the pro-war media (which she slowly was turning into). Quite frankly, her life might have been threatened (don't laugh that off either). I still would love for this video to see the light of day. She should sell it whenever this war needs (which will be after Bush's second term).

Quite frankly, what did you gain from pulling the video? The song got banned from radio anyway! They made up their mind. She was still demonized but waited long enough for the conservative media to forget “American Life”. Read my lips (as Daddy Bush would say), “She Lost Sales”!

First of all Justify my love was only aired once, but it was still released anyways it was released on Video tape later where you could purchase it, why because of money

Later What it feels like for a girl was only aired once, but did Madonna back down on that, nope she just released on DVD, why because of Money ...

And now on her latest Video American life, it won't be to long before Madonna puts it out on VHS or DVD for sale...

IMO, Madonna's song was banned from radio due to lack of interest more than anything.

http://www.smh.com.au/art...19375.html

""Madonna is having a middle-aged crisis," says Von Medler, operations manager of a Tower Records store in Dallas, where he says sales of Life declined from 400 the first week to less than 50 the next. "She used to reinvent herself, and now she comes off as someone who's quietly going into middle age. She's trying to be both controversial and be a normal mom - and she's not pulling it off."

The influential New Music Express said much the same thing in a lukewarm review of the CD: Critic Johnny Davis opined that her stabs at self-deprecation and self-analysis "just come across as gauche."

"What's the point of Madonna these days?" he asks, before going on to say that she's "simply done everything there is to do ... surely that's enough now."

And this is the crux of the problem - or, at least, one of them. Whereas once she sang about hot-button topics like sex and abortion, these days she's rapping (yes, rapping) about her pilates class and drinking a latte. The mystery, it seems, is gone."

J/K?
I think Madonna would be making a lot more money if the album sold well then she could off a DVD single but I might be wrong! After all, she didn't direct the video and doubt she producded it. Can she make that much money off it compared to an album she co-wrote and co-producded. Don't think the only wy making that much money off those videos are WB? NOt to say she doesn't do bad. And she may never release it as a video single?

Madonna has told People magazine that "eventually I'm sure it will be seen",meaning that it could still be released someday, possibly on a future DVD.

Not sure what you mean when you say that she should "do something for her age group".Her new CD is very sophisticated and mature. She doesn't do kiddie bubblegum songs like "Get Into The Groove" or "Like A Virgin" these days,so she's obviously not pretending to be a teenager anymore. She's fully aware that 19 year olds aren't listening to her and that's fine. She has grown up and moved on.

What has been more brilliant than there efforts?
Do you really want to go there with age?
