well... both of them revolutionized music technically. guns n roses made metal "groovier" and "funkier" as far as i'm concerned (look at motley crue's track "dr. feelgood"--they would have NEVER cut a funky track like that if GNR hadn't shown them the way). although, i also feel that GNR was truly nothing but updated "new and improved" aerosmith at that point.glad they got a little chance to evolve.

nirvana changed the entire musical landscape. i loved it... sebastian bach was quoted as saying "it was like REVENGE OF THE NERDS all over again..." skid row took a year off to wait for all this "seattle shit" to die down, and when they decided to come back, there was nowhere to come back to. they were considered cliche at that point. i personally LOVED seeing all the metal bands get rid of the hairspray and the spandex and start wearing jeans and flannel in an effort to blend in. heh! i thought that was hilarious as hell.

velvet revolver should be interesting though. heard they are performing some GNR tracks AND stone temple tracks as well...dunno if they should go that route. audioslave isn't doing any soundgarden or rage tracks... why should they?

$.02.

i....feel.... cold as a razorblade, tight as a tourniquet, dry as a funeral drum......

They will perform only somes song i think, scott weiland dont have the register to sing guns n roses tracks, maybbe just "it's so easy". I don't know if i love the way hard rock was put after the seattle invasion, I mean, I love Alice in CHains, Soundgarden, and bands like STP. But this terrible boring bands like hives and vines are only here because of nirvana. Skid Row maybe is not as good as Stone Tempo Pilots, but it's much more interesting than the hives, the vines, creed, and all this poppy boring bands that are all over MTV.

Agreed. THe Hives got thrown into that grouping but they are much better. The Vines, The White Stripes and The Strokes are all kind of over-rated to me, but The Hives stuck out as one of the better bands. The International Noise Conspiracy is still the best out of all of those kind of bands though. Hot Hot Heat is great and Cato Salsa Experience isnt bad. There is becomming a flood of that sound now though and it is starting to wear on me.

actually The Strokes and The White Stripes are good as well, not your average band or Eddie Vedder-wannabe's like Creed!

The Vines suck, that singer is too busy with becoming Kurt Cobain...

Velver Revolver (Scott Weiland, Slash, matt and duff) played soem days ago LIVE, hell and they covered Nirvana. Negative creeps, ehheeh Dave grhol was there. What coincidence this topic with this. They "covered" gun n roses too, sex pistols, STP, and played two new tracks. I am lookign foward this band very much. Hell Slash played nirvana, eheh but reports said it sounded metal and not alternative.
