As for Nirvana vs. The Police... apples and oranges. They were both great and they served their purpose. If Kurt hadn't comitted suicide, they would have done more experimenting. I just watched an interview a few nights ago where Kurt said he wanted to experiment more. He said 'The Beatles went from "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" to Sgt.Peppers, that was a massive progression', and I think they could have done the same.

I was watching a Nirvana concert and thinking that Dave Grohl was good, like Stewart Copeland. The Police started out as punkish/reggae and they progessed and evolved. Nirvana could have done that as well. They were both GREAT 3-piece bands. Lots of similarities. Both lead singers wrote the majority of the material, had distinct voices and had great chemistry.
I miss them both.
