you should learn the baseline to "The Chain" byu Fleetwood Mac--the bass solo before it gets fast at the end--very good!

I'm playing on my piano right now and trying to learn the basic chords to FM's "Sara"

Prince-"Come"
Jaco Pastorius-"Barbary Coast"
Alice In Chains-"Rotton Apple"
Beastie Boys-"Whatcha Want" (this may have been sampled from somewhere but I couldn't tell you where. If anyone knows speak up!)
Miles Davis-"Bitches Brew"
Lenny Kravitz-"Fly Away"

This is a great topic and very refreshing compared to some of the really heavy stuff people are talking about in some of the other rooms.

You have excellent taste, DavidEye! That bassline was tight! Great choice!

I have funky basslines swimming around in my head right now thanks to some nice recollections made here... but I think I'll opt to take the obscure route. Anyone remember "Are You Single" by Aura... circa 1981??

I used to love that song! Acting silly, my friends and I would change the words to, "You Make Me Speak Japanese"!! lol

It's ironic that intha916 mentioned Slave. Their bassist Mark L. Adams, aka "The Hansolor", was one of the first bass players to cross my mind when I first looked at this thread. That brotha's riffs were ruff!! guitar

Big Slave fan here as well. I have mentioned this before on another thread but have you ever heard the post Steve Arrington album "Bad Enuff"? There are some really good tracks on there. Mark laid down some nasty basslines on that album too the best being "In and Out".
