BOWIE fans....Virgin vs. Ryko????????

Hey all y'all Bowie nutmuthafuckers...Which do you like better -- the Virgin remasters from about 3-4 years ago? Or the Rykodisc remasters from the early 90s?

As much as I would give my right nut for this to be the future, I FEAR Bowie's catalog being put out on SACD soon...after buying the Rykodisc shit in the mid-90s...the Virgin remasters in '99...and now some of the "30th Anniversary" editions & (rumored?) re-release of his '90's albums...having to buy it all again on SACD/CD hybrid format will kill my wallet! mad

Oh, but what a delightful death it would be! wink

The sound on the Virgin remasters is much better...Ryko has the bonus tracks, but most of them suck...

the anniversary re-issues coming out this year are "aladdin sane", "outside", "earthling", and "black tie white noise".

the sound quality on the ryko releases are mediocre at the very least. the ziggy 30th anniversary edition blows my goddamned mind every time.

*edit*- these anniversary editions (which i believe will eventually encapsule all of david's albums) include the ryko bonus tracks, remastered.

Not the bonus tracks on "Young Americans".
I´m glad I got stuff like "Who can I be now",
"It´s gonna be me" & "John,I´m only dancing again".
But U´re right about the sound on the Virgin remasters.

Ryko sounds clearer. Virgin sounds fatter and more modern. I have a special place in my heart for the Ryko though, cuz those were the ones that were out when I was getting into him.

Most my friend, most. Not all. I love the ones you named...but we could both name countless bonus tracks that really added nothing to the pacakage.

the sound of the Virgin issues make them better, IMHO. Although I love the bonus tracks on the Ryko editions. A merging of the 2 would be perfect... and some special packaging... why not some 30th anniversary limited editions??? LOL smile can't wait for Aladdin Sane on Tuesday.

Do we know anything about the extra stuff on BTWN, Outside, and Earthling?? There are some great, underrated songs on all of these albums.
