Finally got Hail to the Thief!!! Whoo hoo!!!!!

worship An amazing work of art!worship
I don't understand how ppl said it wasd closer 2 Kid A and Amnesiac when it's CHOCK-FULL of guitars, and it's all song-based. It reminds me most of the Bends, but it's really a move forward not back.
Actually, a lot of the tracks r more like poems put to music, particularly since many lack definable choruses. At the same time, tho, Thom developed this skill over the last 2 albums, of using his voice as another instrument in an organic whole, rather than having the vocals as an overlayt on an instrumental backing. So, on the one hand he twists and stretches the words for their sonal value so that u can't understand what he's saying, while on the other hand the lyrics r astounding poetry.
The depth, the multiple layers of lyrics and music, the power. My God, I could go on, but I think I'll just press play coz the wolf has just left the door and it's time to get lukewarm again!
woot!

I came out against the album pretty harshly, after my first listen.

I changed my mind on the second. It's not a masterpiece, but it is enjoyable.

OK, so I finally got to listen to the new album, so here's my judgement: I like it more for its production values than the actual songs. I like the last 4 tracks on the album, but the rest are just the usual dullness they're known for.

You know, I don't find anything on the alubm dull, but I do agree that the last four songs are especially good. If I were to burn this CD for someone uninitiated to Radiohead's sound, I'd rearrange the song order and do some flip-flopping to bring those tunes to the foreground.

Oh no, I just said FLIP-FLOPping...heeere we go...
