Back in 1995 when Mariah's album "Daydream" came out (pre-hoochie days) Madonna had said something about Mariah not going to be around long because she doesn't experiment enough with her music (this is off of memory) and I vividly remember a press conference Mariah had in response to this (while promoting Daydream") and she answered "Who is she to talk? I haven't like listened to MAdonna since the 8th grade." Does anyone remember this???

Madonna said she would kill herself if she had to sing like Mariah???
and MARIAH SAID SHE IS ABOUT THE MUSIC AND DOESN'T NEED TO CHANGE HER IMAGE EVERY 5 MINS TO OVER COMPENSATE ON LACK OF TALENT AND DIVERT PEOPLES ATTENTION

I think they cool now, well Madonna shut up because Mariah out sold her already (Mariah is only 33 and has surpassed her, Imagine when she's 44)

Mariah is an r&b soul singer she doesn't need to experiment with styles, she knows what she is and does it well in her own style

It was along those lines, she didn't say Madonna but it was her response to Madonna saying "she would kill herself if she sounded like Mariah and made music like her" (ie Madonna praised Mariah when Vision of love come out but changed her mind when she realised that she was going to outsell her)
