We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

Originality is sadly becoming something of the past in urban music, and we need to return to it before our music implodes.

Precisely. Most of today's R&B music is crap.I grew up in the 70s,when we had Stevie Wonder,Roberta Flack,Earth Wind and Fire and all those other real artists. These days,we have barely dressed "divas" with un-distinctive voices,bass-heavy,sample-filled "songs" with the inevitable rapper appearing on it with them.Is there really gonna be any difference between Ashanti's new album, and the new Beyonce album? Is this what R&B has evolved into? From Stevie Wonder to...Ashanti???

R&B is dead. The seventies were a golden era. Long live the NPG

You guys need to get off that hippy-remeniscent, "R&B is dead", why-can't-things-be-the-way-they-used-to-be shit. There IS good R&B on the market. You all spend so much time begging and praying for Prince to shit out another track that you probably don't spend any real time actually LOOKING for good R&B. No, things aren't the way they used to be, but that doesn't mean everyone sucks. How about this: MAYBE YA'LL DON'T KNOW MUCH OUTSIDE OF WHAT YOUR TVs TELL YOU. Great R&B artists probably AREN'T gonna have videos on B.E.T. - MUCH LESS Mtv. As for Beyonc'e, do you all really think SHE is in control of her appearence? HA! HA! HA HA! Bey is a "good lil' label girl". She does what she's told, wears whats put out for her and sings what she is told to sing - JUST LIKE J. Lo, who has no choice, since she has very limited singing abilities anyway. Fake artists are ALWAYS scared of being booted. They can make J. Lo do ANYTHING because of this. Check the vid credits and see if they have the same wardrobe managers or something. That would explain the similar looks in the vids more so than Bey trying to copy J Ho. Neither of them make the decisions in that dept.

I agree with you that there is good music out there. You really have to work at it though to weed out all the crap and find the good stuff. I was just talking about this very thing with someone recently, and I realized that most of the time I'm just too lazy to do the searching. lol I just expect amazing music to fall into my lap.

I am with that. Finding good music of any stripe just takes some patience. You're not gonna find it on BET for the most part. This sounds like a new topic: more on that later.

As B-K "put" it, some people may be waiting on Prince to rise to the forefront again, but that may not happen. You want good music? You have to work for it.

Yeah, it is sad though, that finding good music lately is as difficult as finding a good job.
