My absolute favorite compilation of all time is the Greenpeace album that came out in the late 80s. Does anyone remember that one? It has U2, The Eurythmics, The Pretenders, World Party, amoung many others. The songs are mostly well known (Pride, When Tomorrow Comes, Middle of the Road, Ship of Fools...) but there is something about the flow of the songs that I just love. I bought this on cassette (it was 2 tapes) back in the 80s and I still play to this day. Hey I am a child of the 80s what can I say.
