Eminem...is this guy for real?

He hates women, he hates homosexuals...why doesn't he hate black people too? Is it because rap is his bread & butter and he dare not offend the mighty Dr. Dre? With his crew cut, tattoos and snarky attitude, the guy seems more like a member of the Michigan Militia than a credible rapper.

I wouldn't say Eminem is "causing hate." Hate has been here long before he appeared on the scene. Homophobic attitudes and misogny aren't recent phenomenons. Hell, your father may hate gays and/or ethnic minorities. Eminem is not the cause of hate. People display hatred everyday, everytime, everywhere. The problem people have with Eminem is that he is an outspoken, opinionated realist and he doesn't censure himself. He does what many of us wish we could do in our normal lives, but cannot. He may act/rap the way he does because of his life and his personal experiences. I'm in no way an advocate or diehard fan of Eminem, but hey, it's food for thought.

Eminem is a dork. It makes me sad to think there is a black man behind that minstrel show. One more person perpetuating a negative stereotype. Perhaps Prince should write a song about that.

The music's bouncy and the lyrics are a joke, i don't mind them. However, they guy sometimes acts, looks and talks like a total FOOL which is a shame.

Eminem is exactly the kind of dorky guy who in reality would get his ass kicked daily in any urban American high school. But in his movie 8 Mile, he's shown as a bad ass and leader of his own posse who would stomp on people. This is just myth and phony image building. There's nothing special or unique about white rappers anymore. Everybody and his brother has rapping in their music these days.

I don't know the guy, but I haven't seen any evidence of him hating women or homosexuals.

Also even if he did, that would in no way require him to hate black people. He's into rap music, he loves hiphop, and so naturally most of his musical heroes are black guys.

I'm not much different - I doubt you'll find more than a couple of white faces in my CD collection, because I'm into hiphop, soul, funk etc.

By the way - you making assumptions about him based on his appearance is hardly any better than some of his most ill-advised lyrics about homosexuals. I have a shaved head, and tattoos, and a "snarky additude".

Look, black emcees are accused of misogyny and homophobia all the time, so by those criticisms, Em fits in just fine with a lot of brothers in the rap game.

I like Em's skills. Anyone who can show up a cat like Jay-Z on his own album has got skills. But he's not doing anything better or worse from a content standpoint that most emcees.

"Death Certificate" from Ice Cube, which I think is a classic, was far more controversial than anything Eminem has done.

Regardless of whether or not you like the music or him personally, you have to admit his skills are serious.

And as far as his hatred for people goes, I don't think it's as black and white as you make it seem. I don't think he hates homosexuals or women as a whole. I think he hates some guys who act like sissies (being gay or straight) and he hates the women who are full of shit and just use him like a lot of women do in this world.

And as far as why he doesn't hate blacks, maybe it's because he grew up around so many throughout his life. If he grew up in a completely white neighborhood with racist parents, then maybe he'd have a problem with blacks, but that's not the case.
