Since everybody is so open and honest, I feel somewhat comfortable enough to share that "You Light Up My Life" gets me teary-eyed. I know I know cheese can be emotional too. Did you know that song was about her professing her spiritual beliefs in God? I learned about that a few years ago when I heard the history of rock 'n roll, which is fascinating. The story behind the lyrics. So essentially it was a gospel/spiritual song. But like anything else, different songs have different meanings for the listener as well as singer/writer. Ok, enough of that...
The 70' I cling to dearly. My friends call me "old school." In the 70's, I was under the age of 10, and I would spend my summers listening to my parents 45's of Lou Rawls, Earth Wind & Fire, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The O'Jays and so on. My favorite compilation cds are the Pure Disco series..Here's a sample of #3: Sister Sledge - He's the Greatest Dancer The Trammps - Disco Inferno Peaches& Herb -Shake Your Groove Thing A Taste of Honey - Boogie Oogie Oogie France Joli - Come To Me Abba - Lay All Your Love On Me Spinners - Then Came You Andy Gibb - Shadow Dancing Blondie - Heart of Glass It just defines my early childhood, when music was all about fun. You didn't have to take it seriously. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

"Sugar, awww honey honey, you are my candy girl, and you got me wanting you." Sounds like somebody had a sweet tooth. I heard an updated, remixed version on an oldies station once. "hot chocolate-you sexy thing (good tune) **Now that's a song that irks me to no end!!!** steve miller-fly like an eagle & serenade **I never get tired of that song.** boz scraggs-low down was pretty smooth and big in the hood circa 76 **That's a daily staple on AC soul station. It gets me going especially early in the morning.** tavares-heaven must be an angel **Probably on my top 100 all-time fave songs ever list if I ever created one.** hall & oates-rich girl & she's gone player-baby come back **Another one that would be on my list** 10cc-things we do for love (superb tune...i've done this one with groups...its a well crafted tune.) 4. more more more-andrea true connection (she couldn't sing her way out of...) **I'd play it and do a little dance with it. Scare everybody to death, but I don't care.** "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I love "You Light Up My Light" and I'm not embarrassed to admit it (well, not on the Internet anyway...lol).I remember my mother buying the 45 single. It was the theme song to a movie of the same name. She took us to the see the film, but the film was a bomb. The song,on the other hand, became a huge smash. It was Number One for many weeks. It's a really emotional, heartfelt song.Too bad that Whitney Houston's recent cover version is so disappointing.
