Madonna and Missy team up again---this time,it's for a Gap commercial

Madonna and Missy Elliot will be filming a commercial together for The Gap,in which both ladies will be modeling corduroy jeans. In the commercial,Maddy will be shown singing her new single "Hollywood",while Missy does a rap interpretation of Maddy's 80s hit "Into The Groove".

This isn't the first time these ladies have worked together.Missy produced one of the remixes for Madonna's recent "American Life" single, and they are planning to work together again on a future project.

I heard "Hollywood" on the radio the other day,but the radio edit sucks. It doesn't even include the "push the button, don't push the button" part!!

I know people are gonna call her a sellout.A few years ago,she allowed "Ray Of Light" to be used in a commercial and was heavily criticized too.

come on, you know me better than that...i already think she's a sell out, that's how she's made a career! lol no, really, you can't be a pop star and NOT a sell out. madonna is doing the smart thing if she wants her cd to gain some momentum in the states. she needs to get those videos and singles out and be seen in ads.

gone are the days when madonna didn't have to be seen to be successful. i remember when her stuff was a hit before it was even released!

I think after the "American Life" video fiasco (having to pull it just before it was scheduled to air),Maddy is gonna do evrything she can to be *SEEN* this time around...lol...the new "Hollywood" video is said to be excellent and, thankfully, not too controversial that it will get banned or pulled...lol...

I know that Missy has appeared in TV ads, but has Madonna ever been in a U.S. TV ad? I don't mean just licensing a song to be used, I mean has she ever personally appeared in an ad before?

Prince kinda made his TV ad debut last year in the Chevrolet ads...

I've actually heard "Hollywood" here in LA several times...the pop station with Rick Dees (forget which one it is) has played it several times and the new dance station has played it as well...and at decent times too...and yes they've even included the "push the button..." part...

You know, she was included in the promo for Oprah's "Oxygen" station...If I remember correctly Madonna's dancing around and she stops and says "oxygen..." or something like that...

Obviously she's desperate to turn things around and keep the album from tanking. I remember her saying in an interview with Vogue many years ago that you wouldn't find any Gap clothing in her closet.

You guys are forgetting that this is *NOT* the first time that Maddy has done a commercial for a product or allowed her music to be used in one.In 1988,she signed an endorsement deal with Pepsi right before the 'Like A Prayer' CD came out,and she filmed a Pepsi commercial.A few years ago,she received a cool $10 million for allowing the song "Ray Of Light" to be used in a commercial. She doesn't do it necessarily to *promote* a project ("Ray Of Light" was already a massive success when Maddy allowed it to be used in a comercial). And if YOU were getting paid that kind of money, your ass would do it it too...lol

Everybody is selling their souls to corporate America. The Gap has a horrible reputation in how and where their clothes are made. Sweatshops and slave labor, or so I've read. Madonna and Missy should be ashamed. You gals make enuff money, shame, shame. no no no! mad

So much for the Kabala, eh Maddy?

you know, i hadn't considered that. it really does say volumes for where madonna's real motives lie. someone seriously spiritually evolved/evolving would most likely not get involved with a company lie gap/bananar republic/old navy. i didn't take all this religious mumbo jumbo too serious anyway...it does provide for some great music though!

Which is really sad becuase she is the only big star there. She looks out of place. I seriously think she might have been take advantage of. She never says "Oh" like all the other people. BTW, I don't believe this Madonna Gap commerical til I see it and then I still will doubt it! I just don't like it! I really look forward to hearing "Hollywood" on the radio though. I don't think the assholes here in the Detriot are going to forgive her for "American Life", which there was nothing wrong with! Damn these channels here. They don't play anything new anyway!

So? That wasn't my point. I don't mind artists doing commercials. My point is, she once said she doesn't own Gap clothing. She's being a hypocrite now for endorsing something she doesn't like.

And this has nothing to do with how much money they're throwing at her. She's not poor. So that's not her reason for doing the commercial. It's for much needed promotion of a new single that so far, has not made a big impact on radio. Compare it to Pink's "Feel Good Time"; which was released the same week as "Hollywood" to pop stations. "Feel Good Time" is already in the top 40 of stations that report to Mediabase, and was the most added song to playlists the week it came out. And it continues to make big gains in spins every week. "Hollywood" isn't in the top 40 yet.

With all due respect, how do YOU know her reasons for doing the commercial? Perhaps she just wanted to do a commercial just for the hell of it,to have a little fun.She did 'Will and Grace' for the same reason. And why do you bring up old comments that she supposedly made in the past? Like most people, she should be allowed to change her mind. Are you keeping track of every past comment she ever made, just so you can prove she's a hypocrite? As for Pink...she is a newer, younger artist than Madonna. So naturally, radio will instantly embrace her music the same way they embrace the crap that Britney and the boy bands put out. This says NOTHING about the quality of the song itself (a Prince fan knows this better than anyone).A new Madonna song is no longer a guaranteed success but that's to be expected, considering how long she has been in the biz. These days, unless you're a young wannabee diva,or a foul-mouthed rapper, you will have a harder time cracking the Top 10. Besides, the Pink song you mentioned was produced by William Orbit. As far as Maddy is concerned, she has been there, done that...lol...

True enough, but isn't that also true for *ALL* celebrities that endorse products? I bet that half of them don't even use the stuff that they're endorsing.

yeah you are right...well except for sharon stone-she wore a gap turtleneck to the golden globes in the early 90s. lol. hey i'm looking forward to seeing missy do into the groove-i could care less about madonna's new single or album, for that matter. i read this morning she's wearing $20 million worth of jewelry in her new video--talk about speaking out on materialism!

Yeah, the "Hollywood" video promises to be really glamorous and glitzy. But,knowing Madonna and where her head is these days,I think it's gonna be an ironic, sarcastic look at the whole Hollywood machinery and the phoniness of it all.

But,the good thing is,she's back to blonde for this video smile
