Micheal Jackson Outtakes??????? I've recently heard Micheal Jackson claim that he writes 100 songs for every album and then chooses the best ones.
Is this true? Surely there must be outtakes circulating. I'm not a big fan, so may have missed them. If it is true, do MJ fans feel the same way as Prince fans do. ie why doesn't he release this one and that? --------------------------------------------------

Oh, the Get Out of My Mind is a fake. That website is still claiming it's geniune. It's not Michael, Ja Rule OR Ashanti - well that's the general consciousness right now. It's some French dude doing an MJ impersonation. [This message was edited Sun Jun 8 6:26:54 PDT 2003 by Ellie]

Anyway, who produces "Shout" and does Lenny Kravits appear in it?? I still don't know why people dislike "If You Don't Love Me?" it has the rock-motown sound in it. Very intresting!

If You Don't Love Me sounds like a bad song that may have been sung on The Commitments soundtrack. It doesn't suit MJ and it's repetitve IMO.
LK isn't on Shout, but I SWEAR Janet is the female voice talking simultaneously in the background with MJ for the last verse. Teddy Riley produced it.

I found a demo of a song called Suprise Song.
It's just MJ and a piano with an upbeat beat. Very melodic and he's singing with his brothers... Very cool, it's a happy song, you can hear MJ do his "Hee heee!" and they are clapping a clever clap and stuff. Goes something like this... "This is your suprise song, we have no words to sing...so everybody listen to the groove and c'mon do you best..." I can't make out the rest of the line, but it's in mono and may have been recorded on a demo tape. It also has Randy singing a bit for the second verse. They laugh and have a great time singing it. Anyone ever heard it? I also have just a few seconds of the Thriller demo with a more rough beat. The Linn LM-1 drum machine is used and they're is rougher bass synth part, but I'm not sure if it really is an original since I don't have the MJ singing part. I love outtakes, alternates and demos, gives you a sense of the artistic descisions made and also how a song grew from a rough idea to a work of art.

The "Surprise Song" was a vinyl disc given to fanclub members in 1983 I think. On one side is the improvised song, the other is all the brothers talking and laughing in the studio together, announcing the Victory tour and talking about Motown 25 which they had just done but it hadn't gone out on TV yet.
It should be streaming on Real Audio here: http://jetziwdsmenu1.cjb.net [This message was edited Sun Jun 8 12:21:27 PDT 2003 by Ellie]

Lots of wasted time surfing the internet over the last 5 years. I have a CD quality version of the Surprise Song, but the link I got that from is dead now. Can't find a decent quality version of the studio chat.
The link for it on that page there is "Encino Message / Song WIth No Name" [This message was edited Sun Jun 8 12:56:56 PDT 2003 by Ellie]
