I loved the first one..."When the pawn..." sucked and it was pretty pretentious to use a poem as your album title. It was just a sign of her trying too hard to be all underground and cool to me.

I gotta disagree with you wholeheartedly on this one. Sure, the title was kinda crazy and yes, pretentious as hell, but the songs and production on 'When The Pawn' are just STELLAR. Just awesome. I don't honestly believe she's going to be able to top that record - it was fantastic.

She had a guest spot, singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" on Johnny Cash's latest. And, she is working on her third album.[I, too, loved the second one, just added "On the Bound" and "Fast as you can" to mix cd for exercising (I'd best be going...)]

She broke her arm, a few months back, trying to break up a fight between her dog and another. The recuperating process, I'm sure, hindered her progress. She and Jon Brion will likely present us with another masterpiece.

I got to see her freak out & threaten reporters, yell at her band & the soundpeople at Roseland a few years back. It was a classic rock moment - even written up in Rolling Stone. Among her rants directed toward the press: "Put away your notebooks. You better not fucking fuck me."

Dig both albums - the second one's better - and would love to hear a new one.
