I have been re-discovering TTD the past few months, thanks to my fellow orgers. I bought Hardline back in 88 when it came out, and always liked it. But, back then, when Fish/Flwsh came out he completely lost me. I HATED that album at the time...so much that I lost interest. I didn't even know he made other albums until I read abou them on here.
Anyway, I have since seen the light and realize the dude's talent (who does remind me of Prince in many way). I think his best is Symphony or Damn...that album kicks some major booty. Next Wild Card! is almost as good, if not a bit too long. I have hard time listening to it all at once. But the songs are all 1st class. Next up would be Hardline...solid songs that are all very accessible. Fish/Flesh follows...I appreciate it more now than back in 89. The great songs (Alright, Billy Dont't, This Side of Love...) overshadow the pretentious ones. Finally...Vibrator...I have not been able to get into this one at all. Its ok but nothing stands out for me. I have to give this album a bit more time to sink in.

"Neither Fish Nor Flesh was ripped apart in reviews for being bizzare. But every time I listen to it, it sounds like a classic soul album with unconventional instrumentation." i think i remember reading some reviews ... like People magazine and USA today ... which didnt like it ... but i think i do recall that rolling stone loved it ... i guess i should check rolling stone reviews just to be sure before i spout off my mouth ... but ... listening to it again ... it is definately unique and i agree with someone else who said ... it was TTD's "around the world" ...
