Since I lost my baby- Luther Vandross (I actually think this is better then the orginal classic, iono it's just something bout ol' Luther's voice)

Luther's version of Stevie's Creepin'. Luther's version is so sexy. I also love Al Green's cover of the BeeGees How Can You Mend a Broken Heart. Also, if you don't have it, listen to Miss Gladys Knight's version of Curtis Mayfield's The Makings Of You.

Gotta give it to Luther on "Superstar"...

(ON the flip side of this question, I hate Boys to Men's remake of G.C. Cameron's It's So Hard to Say Goodbye. They sound so nasally and they can't enunciate. How the hell was their song at the top of the charts. )

Luther is a genuis at remaking songs and in many cases,creating a version that tops the original.Here's another remake that I like better than the original...

I know this is one of those songs that where pretty much played out, but you gotta hand it that the cover was better then the orginal...

Joe Cocker's version of "the Letter"...much better than the Boxtops.

Finally...Terence Trent D'arby's version of Who's Lovin You is better than J5s and The Temps.

IMO Robert Palmer's remake of "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" is better than the original Cherrelle version.

Prince's is my favorite, but Sinead's version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" leaves the Family's original version in the dust. (Those "oh oh oh oh oh oh oh" things are really cheesy.)


I like Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" but I prefer Madonna's. Very haunting, eery, and takes the sentiment of the song to a whole different level that Marvin probably never even felt.

Air Supply is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I prefer Bonnie Tyler's version of "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" (thereby giving her vocals on my top 2 all-time favorite songs ). It's better-suited to her voice, I think.

Speaking of Bonnie Tyler, I wouldn't say I prefer it (the song is my all-time favorite), but I do like the Nikkie French version of "Total Eclipse Of The Heart."
