Beyonce (Best Vocalist In R&B)?

I think I'm probably one of the biggest Beyonce fans there are and it greatly frustrates me that people say the things they do about her. People seem to be more critical of her than they are of anyone else in the industry. If Beyonce can't sing, then why is Ashanti doing so well with her career? The music industry is an injustice.
Beyonce can sing and that's all there is to it.
Beyonce has staying power,so deal with it.
Beyonce is beautiful,so stop hatin'.
Truthfully, I'd like to know how everyone else feels. Do you love her or hate her. I haven't heard a valid reason for why people treat her the way they do. Please, I need comments whether they're good or bad.

You said it. The music industry IS an injustice.
Beyonce is not a favorite, but she has a much better voice than many others with a music career nowdays.
Need I say Britney? Madonna? J. Lo?
So many others. disbelief

Well, I don't think that she sells herself anymore than any other female artist.

Saw her on SNL this past weekend.
She looked really hot.
She's the new Tina Turner.
The music was so-so.
Totally forgetable.
But she was really hot.

Beyonce absolutely is NOT the best vocalists in R&B. She can hold a note, yeah but there are way better vocalists out there than her that will never get their props because of their looks. Shall I say Vivian Green? Angie Stone? India? I could go on. The reason people hate on her is, believe it or not, once you start taking off your clothes to sell records, people start losing respect for you. I know I did. What I hate is, when you say something about Beyonce that people perceive as negative, you are immediately labelled as being jealous of her. Not only do I feel she is selling out, she is selling herself short. New song sucks by the way.

People probably hate her because she didn't grow up "poor and unfortunate" like a lot of other artists claim. The girl has talent and can sing her ass off-point blank.

i agree..there's soul..and then there's vocal gymnastics...

half the stuff she does, or attempts to do...she ends up going completely off key...

i just don't see why people dig her so much...as a vocalist anyways...granted she's a beautiful girl, but that doesn't make her the greatest vocalist in r & b by a looong shot...

Clearly those people who claim that Beyonce sings off key has no concept of musical pitch or intonation at all. If Beyonce is flat, what the hell is Mary J. Blige? And I'm not knocking Mary's voice at all, but if her singing isn't flat, I don't know what is? I thought Mary was the only person that could sing off key and get away with it.

Okay, okay. Everyone has a point. I might've stretched it when I said that Beyonce is THE Best R&B Vocalist. She is to me, but I can't speak for everyone. I can only voice my opinion. But she is definetely among the best.
The point that I was trying to make is that the majority of the people who don't dig Beyonce are being super-critical. Maybe it just seems like that to me because I'm such a huge fan, but I notice that there are other people that recieve more props than Beyonce that aren't quite as deserving.
I've also noticed that the media and pupblic are trying to set up a feud between Beyonce and Kelly. I don't understand. Kelly was in Destiny's Child too, just in case any of you forgot. Most of the time, they were in costume and were dressed pretty similarly. They all wore hot pants and bared their midriffs. SO why is Beyonce the one selling herself.
I'd also like to know, How does everyone here rate Kelly?

Is this about looks? So what Beyonce is beautiful, should she be treated poorly because she's pretty? People fail to realize that pretty people have feelings. Being symapathetic to the "Ugly Girls" is almost as bad as not paying attention to them at all. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that Vivian Green, India Arie, or Angie Stone...well maybe Angie Stone, but that's just me. They're not ugly people. What I'm saying is that if I were either of those 3 artists, I wouldn't want to constantly be mentioned as the singers that don't get props because they're not as pretty as the others.
If Beyonce was ugly, would that make everyone happy?

Some people didn't, or don't, like Beyonce, because when she was up an coming with Destiny's child, she was always the main focus, and they was rumors that they did it on purpose, and all the stuff about her parents being involved, well you know, but even afterwards, for instance, with 'Bootylicious', and 'Survivor' (the videos) people saw that even more, but then they were some that were disliking her because of her blonde 'wig'...I was one of them, always wondering, what's up with that blonde hair???

As for being 'beautiful', she's cute, but I'd like to see with her natural hair color, totally different, makes one wonder, is it the blond hair that's doing it for her???

I like her, more now then before, she can sing, better than a lot of the mainstreamers, but definetely not the best in R&B no no no! (I agree that Kelly Price definetely has got to be one of them) Beyonce got style though, that's why I dig her now, but the song she did with Jay-Z 'Crazy in love', sounds like a bunch of noise...confuse, as I stated before...but I liked her more after the song and video 'Bonnie & Clyde'...

Beyonce can sing, yeah,(better than Ashanti, for example), but did you see Celine Dion blow her away??? She can't sing, like let's say, Christina, but she got voice, and I dig her for that, because when they don't, I tend to dislike them even more...

If you're talking about the people who don't like her...if you're talking about women...some are just like that, just look at all the hate with J.Lo...some women are just influenced to be that way, but I think Beyonce's way more stylish..."Hey shorty...it's Beyonce"! nod

If Beyonce was ugly, would that make everyone happy?[/quote]It's absolutely about image to me, yes. You can't put Miss Stone in a miniskirt to sell records. I'm not being sympathetic to ugly girls, because the women I mentioned are not ugly but they don't look like Beyonce either. My belief is Beyonce sells records mainly based on her looks. Sex sells. I don't want Beyonce to be ugly, I don't care what people look like. But, I believe, if she were considered to be unattractive, she would not be as popular as she is now. Ask my twenty-five year old male cousin.

Good-looking people do have advantages that ugly people don't have. But that's true in all walks of life, not just in entertainment. And it's true for men and for women.

Ricky Martin can sell records by grinning at the camera and shaking his bon bon.

A good-looking chick doesn't have to have any talent. All she has to do is shake her booty booty! and show her titties and she'll get paid. Look at Carmen Electra and Britney Spears.

Ugly people can make it, but if you're ugly, you have to have skills. You can't get over on looks.

Beyonce has heartbreaker looks and a good voice. She's using what she's got -- good looks and a good voice -- to get what she wants. Female performers have been judged by their looks forever. It's a fact of pop life. With the help of studio technology, videos and PR machines, even good-looking females with marginal talent can make it big as singer/entertainers. Madonna, Janet, J-Lo and Britney come to mind. Again, I'm not hatin' (I LOVES ME SOME JANET), those are just facts.

So, Beyonce's no Ella or Aretha or Sade. Her career will run its course by the laws of pop supply and demand. She's just playing the game.

In the "Get On The Bus" video I remember it as black near enough, you telling me she dyed it darker?
