In a few days the new Steely Dan album "Everything must go" will be released. I already heard one song "The last mall" and I really like it. Any other Dan lovers around here?

of STEELY DAN,
& am proud to have had a love & appreciation of their music since 1986.


I remember hearing several of their hits ("Do It Again", "Rikki Don't Lose That Number", "Peg" & others) when I was a child, but I really didn't know who they were. Once I knew who they were & started REALLY listening to their music, I was HOOKED.

In the last 5 years- due equally to my growing appreciation to THE DAN as well as to my inability to "keep up" with this "human" who has conveniently decided to call himself Prince..

Donald & Walter et al,
are now the straw that stirs my musical beverage..
& boy, DO THEY STIR IT WELL.

It's GREAT, to follow a group
that doesn't sue its fans,
that doesn't talk a lot of shit (& then NOT back it up),
that doesn't try to do 50 different (ultimately mediocre, at best) projects at once (& leave many of those unfinished),
that doesn't contradict themselves in every other sentence,
that doesn't proselytize between songs during a show,
that hasn't tried to follow the recent trends or infinitely lesser talents,
that doesn't want to release an entire new album every month..
yeah,
it's quite a nice, refreshing change of pace, indeed!


I have been counting the days
since I 1st heard that they were going to release A NEW ALBUM on June 10th! I didn't think they would put anything new out "so soon" after Two Against Nature,
so I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED by this news..

THEN,
I started doing CARTWHEELS when I saw that they'd be TOURING to support this new album!
They'll be within 100 miles of where I live THREE TIMES in August, & I plan to see them AT LEAST 2 of those times, seeing how I missed their last tour because I was living in Toulouse..


I can't wait!

i'll wait to see which one i'll buy before i hear what's on the dvd... (i have all of their official cd & dvd releases, so i'll probably get the one with the dvd.)
