Actually it's Ed Greene playing drums on "I Got The News." Gadd played on the title track to Aja. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes. | |

As
NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE as it is for me to pick only 10 of the "best" SD songs.. here is my attempt.. (ahem) thus, the TOP 10 STEELY DAN songs.. in "reverse order".. JUST to add a little.. "suspense"...! 10. Babylon Sisters (SHAKE IT!) (I can NEVER say "Babylon Sisters" without saying "shake it" after! It's a REFLEX!) 9. Fire In The Hole BRILLIANT piano by Donald to start, & in the middle, then that "twangy" part at the end 8. Reelin' In The Years A QUINTESSENTIAL "classic rock" track that.. rocks! 7. Deacon Blues excellent "mid-tempo" morsel, with its "catchy" chorus & soulful sax solo.. 6. Your Gold Teeth substantial, frolicking, NASTY keyboard solo.. & cool lyrics like: "you fasten up your beaded gown/then you try to tie me down" 5. Sign In Stranger MORE excellent piano work by Fagen; this song really sets a certain.. "mood"..! I can actually see myself.. "walk(ing) around collecting Turkish union dues".. 4. Peg THE STANDARD of (lite) "jazz-rock" against which all others must be compared. 3. Green Earrings 1 of the "rawer" SD jams, especially with the lightning speed guitar solo that closes out this classic 2. Kid Charlemagne among the funkiest of all SD tracks.. it's like, JUST as you're getting into it, it's OVER! 1. Janie Runaway The Dan at their funky, jazzy, kinky, sarcastic, stylistic best. If they can make a song BETTER than this.. I couldn't stand to hear it, I would DIE from the overdose. LONG LIVE STEELY DAN & THEIR B R I L L I A N T catalogue of music. I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS.. | |
