No I can't explain it to you, but I can laugh my ass off. I saw her perform this song on Soul Train. I'll assume she had a crush on Michael.

"Dear Michael" was recorded by Kim Fields in 1984 and it was released as a single.I remember hearing it on the radio during the 1984 Michaelmania days.Kim's song was a re-working of an old MJ song that he recorded in the 70s.She changed the lyrics to make it seem as if she was singing directly to him.At one point in the song, she asks "Michael,do you think fourteen is too young to get married?".Kim actually had a decent voice.

It makes sense because she and Janet were best friends growing up so she had a crush on her best friends older brother. where would they all be if that would have worked out??? We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

I have this song--back in the day (70's) when I was TOTALLY IN LOVE with Michael Jackson I used to play that song to DEATH (along with anything else he and the J5 would put out).

I never heard either one of them say they were best friends growing up In the 70s,Janet Jackson appeared on the TV show "Good Times" and her (abusive) mother on the show was played by Kim Field's real mother. That's probably how Janet and Kim became friends.

Talk about Six Degrees of Separation! Nice recovery DavidEye! I've always wondered about the name "Chip." Re: Kim, my earliest recollection of her was that "Mrs. Butterworth's" syrup commercial. Not to hate, but she had a killer over bite.

Are you serious? OH-MY-GAWD! This is too funny. Or maybe I'm delirious because it's 4o'clock in the morning and I haven't slept in two days.
