Ingrid Chaves wrote the lyrics 2 Justify my love I don't know if y'all remember hearing about this, but it's true. In the early 1990's when the song was released, Ingrid Chaves complained that she never got credit for the song! Can y'all believe this  but now when I go back 2 listen 2 the song, it does sound like something she would write (reminiscing the poetry on Grafitti Bridge) Just take away Madonna's voice and put Ingrid's on it... | |

She did Write the Lyrics for it&Got a Hush Hush Publishing Deal with EMI back in 93.She made alot of Loot off that One Song. mistermaxxx | |

Yes,that's true.Lenny Kravitz was secretly dating Ingrid (while he was married to Lisa Bonet),and he created the song based on Ingrid's poetry then submitted it to Madonna WITHOUT crediting Chavez.She sued and I think she eventually received about 25 percent of the songwriting royalties. | |

Yes,that's true.Lenny Kravitz was secretly dating Ingrid (while he was married to Lisa Bonet),and he created the song based on Ingrid's poetry then submitted it to Madonna WITHOUT crediting Chavez.She sued and I think she eventually received about 25 percent of the songwriting royalties. That was a case were Madonna got an odd "additional lyrics" credit. I wonder if Madonna knew, considering she got so chummy with Chaves who appears to be the ultimate starfucker! | |

I think if Ingrid would have recorded it, it wouldn't have been a hit. I like Ingrid, but Madonna has star power, and the video was KILLER. The remixes are great too. I remember all the controversy over who wrote what and what was sampled. I think this is a case of synergy, the sum being greater than the individual parts. Whoa, that was deep. | |
