Her hair is medium to dark brown, not light brown, or blonde. Check VH1's Driven. http://www.vh1.com/shows/...sode.jhtml

Yes Beyonce dyed her hair darker. There are lot's of people with light hair that dye it black. My sister is an example and I've thought about it. I've seen Beyonce's baby pictures and her hair was very light. It's not that hard to believe and if it's not, so what? Why do they make hair dye. All the stuff people complain about is stupid. I've seen J-Lo's hair every color in the book. So what's the big deal?

Point is...is your sister a celebrity? Did you mean 'lighter' instead of 'darker'? And have you checked the link? I'm just stating the facts. It has to do with what's natural, what's not, the hype, and what's what. J. Lo before making it 'big' wore her natural hair color, and curly. Afterwards it got lighter and straighter. Beyonce looks totally different with her natural hair color and looks 'good' with the dark blonde...but you know what? I really like Beyonce and don't take to J.Lo that much, not because of her hair color, but because of the fact that she can't sing, okay!

Yes I meant darker. Beyonce dyed her hair darker for a lo while in her career. No my sister isn't a celebrity, but I know that Beyonce isn't the only celebrity that has hyed her hair. You have yet to explain to me what the big deal is.

Beyonce's natural hair color is sandy brown/dark blonde.

In the "Get On The Bus" video I remember it as black near enough, you telling me she dyed it darker?

I think I'm probably one of the biggest Beyonce fans there are and it greatly frustrates me that people say the things they do about her. People seem to be more critical of her than they are of anyone else in the industry. If Beyonce can't sing, then why is Ashanti doing so well with her career? The music industry is an injustice.
Beyonce can sing and that's all there is to it.
Beyonce has staying power,so deal with it.
Beyonce is beautiful,so stop hatin'.
Truthfully, I'd like to know how everyone else feels. Do you love her or hate her. I haven't heard a valid reason for why people treat her the way they do. Please, I need comments whether they're good or bad.

A lot of the negativity is backlash against her being forced down the public's throats. She's in magazines, t.v. shows, movies, etc. 24-7. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I won't comment on that-- besides it has nothing to do with being a good vocalist. Her singing voice is really not that good. I'm not old school but I know the difference between Stephanie Mills and Madonna. Beyonce falls somewhere in between by anyone's standards and for my money much closer to Madonna. Being able to sing better than J-Lo does not a diva make.
If what we're really talking about is pop-stardom then she waits in line behind Janet and Madonna. I'd take Whitney, Christina Aguilera, and Mariah before all of the Britneys, Beyonces, and Ashantis because they can/could sing. Mind you none of them is in the same league as Stephanie Mills, Deniece Williams, and other true R&B vocalists IMHO.
Let's not insult the Erykah Badus, Lauryn Hills, Mary Js, Chaka Khans (still), Arethas, Sades, etc. by calling Beyonce the best vocalist in R&B.

Beyonce is tight as a vocalist and even tighter in her showmanship. When she first performed with DC she stood out and I said to myself "There's a solo act waiting to happen". She's good. There's no denying that. Best? Nah.
Angie Stone, Lauren Hill, Kelly Price, Erykah, and Vivian Green are selling to a totally different crowd. A "grassroots" R&B crowd of sorts.
One word: Monica. Beyonce's not on the Monica, Tamia, Deborah Cox level yet (vocally). Still, that's not really her market competition. Her true market competition is the singing, dancing pop pseudo-R&B genre divas like Britney, Christina A. (who's got her beat vocally), Alicia Keys, Ashitty, and soforth. Of these, Bey has them all beat in the "total package" sense. (Looking good, sounding good and having the right moves) They all have weaknesses (Christina can't dance worth a shit and Britney can't sing worth a shit), but Bey is pretty strong on all levels. Still, lesser known sistas like Cherokee would eat her alive on the performance tip. Overall though, Bey is holding her own in the position she's been put in. Now if she only had good material...hmmm...
p.s. I too have noticed the "redbone backlash" in R&B these days. Its too bad we are basing so much on shade. Black is black to me. Its ALL good.

I must say that I agree with most of that comment. When you think about it, everyone wants to be on top. Beyonce doesn't control her position, she just does what she can to remain in that position. I think that is what anyone in her shoes would do. I know I would.

I do not call myself insulting anyone by the title of my topic. If I wanted to insult any R&B artist, I'd do it directly. Anyway, I never even said that Beyonce was the best R&B vocalist. It's just the title of my topic. And if you look, there's a "?" right afer the title. I've seen several titles that had nothing to do with the discussion following it, but that doesn't mean anything.
Naturally, everyone wants people to reply to the topic they started so they choose a title that will catch the readers' eyes.

And then you have music award shows like the Grammy's and the American Music Awards that have categories like Best Female R&B Vocalist. Maybe the person who won is not really the best, but the people who voted for her seem to think so. That's not an insult to the other people nominated or the ones that weren't nominated at all. It just means, that it's a matter of opinion or what the people want for that year.

The grammys and other award shows r all about $$$. That's it. How can they vote some1 as the best? How did Whitney win a few years back (i think it was 2001)? She was in shockin' form. What a sham. If u look past the glitz and the 'award' factor then u will realise that it is all BS. I only watch it 4 c the singers and them p4orm. That is it.

agentmonday, I agree so much with you...but will Kelly ever get the mainstream hype Beyonce has??? No. And it's for some obvious reasons, sad but true. But she's top class, (vocally), definetely, in my book also. nod Dag, but where was she in the 'Diva's Duets' instead some of the others? Makes you think they were just there to promote them some more, and not the others...
