I am sitting here listening to a pfunk show from the Pfunk Earth Tour 1977 and man when Pfunk we're cooking the bad was on the one. At this time Jerome Brailey was on drums, Glenn Goins (what a soulful vocalist), Garry Shider, Michael Hampton, Rodney Skeet Curtis, & others. Does anyone have PFunk memories from attending the shows or favorite music Pfunk Jams?

The PFunk are one of my favs.

I never saw them in the 70's but I saw George Clinton and his 23 person line-up a few years ago.

One of the best shows I've seen in the last 10 years. I wish I had a time machine for all of 70's line-ups.

I was there for the mega funk festival May 20th 1977!! It was thuh bomb!!!

They had amazing costumes and props then. A huge set you would have been blown away...I was a little kid and was totally amazed.

I recently descovered a Mutiny compilation (P-Funk offshot from Jerome Brailey) and it is most certainly one of the funkiest records I have! The tracks are simple but anthemic and catchy as hell! I believe the guy co-wrote Tear The Roof Off...

When I set up a band, it will be the next Parliament Funkadelic - I can dream! But music needs a revolution that's for sure.

The thing with the guitar albums is that they are much more earthy, with more of a rock vibe - more on guitar, less on horns. Definitely a different flavour of funk than classic Parliament. If you haven't heard the Maggot Brain album, get yerself a cheap copy from Amazon! Not only is the title track one of the saddest guitar solos ever laid (and more than 9 minutes long!), it's also one of the best (better than Hendrix in some respects). The album is too short, that's the only problem. Each track is a fantastic slice of primordial funk rock.

Saying all that, it was actually Computer Games that introduced me to the P-Funk legacy...Atomic Dog was my favourite track for years!

Computer Games is classic, especially "Get Dressed" "Man's Best Frind" "Free Alterations" "One Funk At A Time" classic songs. I need sum Bootsy also. I did find the rare "Sweat Band" album though, it's coo.

For a P-Funk newbie their musical catalog is hard to follow. So many spinoff groups and music.

I say start with all the Parliament, Funkadelic and Bootsy.

The compilations don't do shit for them. Most of the lps had concepts and story lines to follow. Don't be scared of the Funkadelic---if you dig Prince you just getting to the root of it all. Their is a rich musical catalog here.
