Paul McCartney to record a new album

Paul McCartney is stated to start recording after the end of his tour, which should be around late july/august. He has written some songs along the way, and after a short break, He wants to start recording a new studio album. I think this band he's with is giving off great vibes for him, He seems like he is very energetic about things..

Looking forward to whatever he's got to offer!smile

I'd love for Paul to come out of nowhere with just a fantastic album, worthy of his glory days - I think it's possible. Bowie, Dylan and even Clapton have cranked out some memorable "acclaimed" albums, but McCartney seems stuck in the middle of the road, where at one time he was doing it in the road.

If he got someone like Nigel Godrich, who produced Beck's "Sea Change" and Radiohead's "OK Computer", or if he collaborated on songwriting with someone like Billy Corgan, or if he even worked on his own to create something just a liiittle different, folks would go nuts. I always wanna like Paul's new stuff - but since the late 70s/early 80s, it hasn't been happening for me.

I was really impressed with Flaming Pie, I thought it was his best stuff of the 90's... There are a few that are flaky, but for the most part its a nice paul album

And don't forget Flowers In The Dirt. It's my favourite McCartney album, or Tug Of War, Unplugged.
As for choosing a good producer that's true. He seems to work better with someone who's commenting on his work and is not afraid to oppose against him.
And please don't let him collaborate with the Billy Corgan's of this world! A renewal of the collaboration with Elvis Costello would be more welcome.

See what I mean about some people on this site who insist on calling great musicians like Paul McCartney a "has been". These people don't know a god damn thing about musical longevity or real talent for singing and songwriting.

Ive enjoyed all of Pauls albums since Flowers in the Dirt, and I actually thought his last (Driving Rain) was one of the best.

I agree that he is MOR, but he cant help it. Hed be faking it if he tried to be anything else. IMO he is the best melodisist in modern popular music, and in his day he could out sing the best rock n roll singers.

I saw him live in April and he was brilliant. Not a show man or pulsating guitarist like prince, but in terms of being a consumate performer he was brilliant. And lets face it, he probably has the greatest back catalogue to dip in to.

His song for that movie Vanilla Sky called Vanilla Sky was pretty cool.

I love Paul's 70s solo/Wings stuff, especially Band on the Run. But I haven't been crazy over his later stuff. He did some great stuff, like the Unplugged CD, Flowers in the Dirt, and Run Devil Run. But I just have not been able to get into the other stuff he's done lately. He seems like he's coasting a lot. I don't know if could ever get it together and make music like before. Live he's still got it.
