Jennifer BEALS (or her body double) STILL did it better...

J-Lo...needs to find a fuckin point of view!

That audition scene is a classic and it takes more than a renacting to make it better...

Dont FUCK with a classic!

If you are talking about the Flashdance video, it is very good. Song is OK but he video is wonderful. So creative to pay tribute and not crap like Mariah Carey.

HA! if Mariah tried some dumb ass bullshit like this I'd say the same and more.

If there's someone who should pay tribute 2 Flashdance than that should be Janet not J.Low. It shows she is nothing more than a fake dancer,,,it goes deeper!

Janet, J.Lo, WT*??? It wouldn't make a difference to me, and the video is hot whether some like it or not, and whether some like to see her shake her as* in a video or not, or pay a tribute to someone from before, I think it's cool she touched on that note.

She's just doing her thing just like Madonna, Janet, and who else? The story is getting very old by now, people are just going to have to accept, dislike, hate, appreciate, and that's all because celebs all do things that gets on one's nerves that one may like or love, that's just celeb status for most...and I know for a fact that we all have our opinions, but sometimes when it comes to J.Lo, some people just happen to dislike or trash whatever she does right away, just because it happens to be 'J.Lo', and that's the kind of stuff that gets on my nerves.

That video is bangin', plain and simple. That flip she does off the table is killer. Give her some credit for putting together a video that is finally good. I will now go to watch it again. (Hmmm...Maybe I should make 10 copies of it to be on the safe side.) Thank God Janet didn't do it with her plastic old ass. Give me "Control Janet anyday. [Jenny ass and tits are real]

Although it is on the surface based on Flashdance. the video has a dual meaning:

a) she is portrayed as an erotic dancer for male clientel - she is a woman built for the male gaze. the shot was constructed from her going from a male power shoot to being stripped and watered down. (read my thread on MTV from two weeks back to find out more)

B) The video focuses on dancing which suggests her real forte.

If it's a diss for her, she sure is making a lot of money off of it, and she doesn't care what her female peers, or anybody else for that matter says about it...she don't even care about the block, remember?! But ANYWAY! I wonder...if any one of you other ladies were asked to do this kind of video and get paid thousands or millions, would you do it? The lady is getting paid, and apparently she doesn't care if it's just for men, I think she feels really comfortable about that notion. Guess that's why most of her fans are young teenage girls and boys, and ofcourse, the men caught up in the mess.

This is a great video. The whiteface was a part of FLASHDANCE, which is the premise of the whole video.

The song is great too.

J-Lo is here to stay. If you don't like her, then stop staring at her ass so much.

I never thought I would live long enough to hear the word "classic" used in association with Flash Dance. I don't give a damn about J Lo but it's Flash Dance for god's sake!

Oh come on that video is pitiful. It's not a tribute. It's a complete do-over, but OH SO weak. The song is weak. The dancing is weak. The "hey look, I'm JB from Flashdance, check me out".

it's all just another form of Sampling in Hip Hop... "let's make money off of something that's already established as a certain hit."

ummm...where do you 'see' or even 'hear' hip-hop in this song or video??? I'm even surprised they played that on BET...I'm even trying to wonder how are they going to mix it when they include a rapper...confuse...

The one and only thing that represents you is what you allow yourself to be represented by.

When the body double did it in the original I just felt it was a lame attempt to mask her identity. If Jennifer did the scene without the make up, folks might be like, "Yo! that's not how they did it in the movie!" Maybe she just wanted to keep it real.

Now, I remember when Donna Summer wore this kabuki-like
make-up on one her album covers she caught some flack.

The first thing I thought when I saw that video was that Geri Haliwell already did that exact scene in her stupid "It's Raining Men" cover two years ago. disbelief

I'm sayin, it's the same attitude as most lame hip hop hits (from Poof Doody) where you take a solid gold hit that's already established, and then add your own words over it, SOMETIMES, and then call it yours. Same thing here. LAME. LAME. SHAME. LAME.

And yeah, the song is pure nothing. not even crap. Just nothing.

Ya know whats funny? Seeing Macy Gray, TTD, Lenny Kravits, Tracie Chapman get no love nor respect from BET but on the other hand you see Slim, J.Low and ppl who have nothing 2 do with black music.

Ain't that a bitch? rolleyes

For Rhondab, Jthad and the rest of them who rolled their eyes on me,,TAKE THIS:

J. LO – SHE’S A MANIAC? Paramount doesn’t appreciate Lopez’s tribute to “Flashdance.”

Jennifer Lopez
(May. 8, 2003) *Paramount Pictures isn’t very happy about the Jennifer Lopez’s video for “I’m Glad.” The movie house is calling the video a rip-off of its 1983 hit film “Flashdance.”
The clip features a ripped sweatshirt wearing Lopez doing the exact moves from the film. Lopez’s camp says the video is more of a tribute, the singer/dancer considers “Flashdance” one of her favorite movies.

Still, Paramount has sent Sony (Jen’s parent label) a legal notice claiming that the music company violated the film’s copyright when Lopez lifted the look and dance sequences.

The Lopez’s camp doesn’t expect a big tiff over the matter, and Paramount says it’s a pretty simple case, too. The movie company considers it just a clip-licensing agreement that comes along with a little fee. The two entertainment companies don’t expect to go to court over the matter.

It must be really good what they're doing, since hip-hop is so very well sought after...
