Ok, ok, enough of Pharrell

Am I the only one who is sick to death of Pharrell? I mean his voice is not all that exciting and he doesn't do much. He should just stay behind the scenes like he used to. What is he Puffy now? I can't stand him!

yeah, and why does he have his shirt off in that Snoop Dogg video? YUCK. skinny little bitch. put a shirt on. you aren't the kind of guy that needs to be taking your shirt off in a video.

btw, i think between 2 current videos, we have the 3 ugliest guys in modern hip hop on screen. they both co-star Pharrell. that Snoop Dogg video and the Jay Z one.

god, if it were 1981 and MTV was just now beginning to make and break stars based on looks, these 3 would be on the street in 5 minutes.

It strikes me as funny that women that would've derided him for being a skinny, funny looking muthafucka who couldn't sing if he was an average joe, are willing to jump on his dick and think he's so cute now that he's got $$$. Y'all aren't fooling anyone, not even yourselves, chicks.
To answer the question, Pharrell/Neptunes shit was cool before they severely overexposed themselves and jumped on any record they could. I'm only feeling "Grindin" (Clipse) "Super Thug (Nore) and the N.E.R.D. project anymore...btw why did that NERD record get pulled ? You can't buy that muthafucking thing anymore...employees of several stores in different chains (including the one I work for) were asked to pull and ship back and remaining copies a while back w/ all new orders of the record cancelled...Anyone here know why?

Oh please, a Prince fan complaining about over-exposure. Either you fuckin' dig the music or you don't. I hate people who only like shit because it's not "popular" yet. Once they truly hit it big you'll always have losers complain about it.

It's a business, make as much fuckin' money while you can, so when the hype's over you can go back to doing whatever the fuck it is you really want to do without worrying about your bills. You never know when it'll be over. Popular music is not fucking art, it's mostly mindless entertainment.

I agree with your reasons but I wonder if buyers want Pharell the artist or just his Neptunez production? As an artist he is dull to me, smacks of Puffy insisting on being on any song he produces.

Id put him up me anyday also love

But seriously I am sick of hearin his voice in every song. It was coo at first, but on "Excuse Me Miss" uugh! Just got sick of him. But I do like him on "I Still Love U" by 702, his voice sounds coo on there.

Neptunes should stick 2 the live instrumentation 4 a bit though

This first few times your hear a new sound (particularly in hip hop) it is interesting and fresh...however hear it done every two minutes, its boring. Then there is the imitators trying to copy whatever the flavor of the month is. This (to me at least) is why there's been a rise and then subsequent decline of many former hip hop megaproducers.
As far as the Prince parallel, I got into Prince pretty late in his career (94 to be exact as I am pretty damn young). At that point in time, Prince was not really overexposed as much as considered a has been by the mainstream. In fact I had never really heard some of the material that I now recognize as being beaten into the ground (paging purple rain). My opinions on Pharrell and my being a Prince fan are two entirely different things.
Thirdly, if I only like things "before they hit it big" and when those people do I'm "some fucking loser who complains about it"...why do I still like Missy,Timbaland,Tupac,Biggie...or hell even Madonna? They've certainly "made it big" and have been or still are "overexposed" at one time or another. Simple reason...some elements of these and other artists' music still sound fresh to my ears and personal tastes.

i love the N.E.R.D project but i agree not everyone can be saved by a Neptunes beat and sometimes they recycle the beats which is like bad and stuff

Depends on how old you are. Personally, I think Pharrell is the truth, but I guess to those people who are into music from the mid-80's and down, you probably would underestimate his (and Chad's) talent.

a certain neptunes sound (ie Snoop 'beautiful') has been overdone.

however the kinda sound of,say 'Grindin' or 'Nothing' is just killer.
& the NERD album kicks major booty!

April: asfar as the album getting pulled goes...
i know down here the original programmed album wasnt even released, but the version with the live band was.
i think in the USA theoriginal wa spulled & then the live band came out.

My two Neptunez picks would be Snoop Dogg "Beautiful" and Common's "Come Close". Takes all sorts...

no I'm not talking about the two versions (instruments vs. programmed beats) and how the first one was subsequently pulled...I'm talking about the albums being ordered to be sent back to the company period and all new orders stopped (even of the second version), basically halting sales of the album AT ALL.

I guess he said, 'well if Ashanti could do it, I could do it tool', (in terms of singing) smile

I think he's cool, he got hits, and it don't bother me...if I'd be sick of Pharell, I'd be sick of so many others...therefore, I keep! nod
