AWESOME!!!

I heard one of the remixes of American Life last weekend. I'm not sure which one it was, but the place went crazy. Of course it was a gaybar, so no accounting for taste! wink

Apparently, these tracks can be entered for a contest.

Hackers Have Field Day with Madonna Decoy

Anyone who thinks they can control the Internet received an object lesson during the past week.

It all started when Madonna literally lent her voice to a popular antipiracy technique. Warner Music Group had audio files purporting to be her new songs uploaded onto peer-to-peer file-sharing services. Anyone who downloaded the decoys, however, heard nothing but the pop star swearing at them. But since then, the pithy profanity has taken on a life of its own.

Some observers thought Madonna was smart to fight piracy with its own tools. Others perceived a thrown gauntlet -- hackers soon defaced Madonna's Web site with an equally profane retort along with several downloadable files of the then-unreleased songs. The defacement also carried a marriage proposal to Morgan Webb, an associate producer and on-air presenter at TechTV who had nothing to do with the prank.

A third group saw a creative opportunity. "What the f--- do you think you're doing," Madonna's now-infamous phrase, is turning up in dozens of remixes and the computer-aided musical collages known as cutups or mashups.

Independent music community DMusic is now hosting a competition for the best Madonna-based track, with the first prize being a "boycott-riaa" T-shirt and stickers.

Links to other related tracks are being put together at http://www.iriXx.org/madonna/ and other sites.

"Madonna was trying to put one over on the kids ... and they in turn wanted to let her know that she's not in as much control as she thinks she is," Webb said, adding that "coke, anger and boredom" were also possible motivators.

Madonna's "American Life" was released Tuesday and is predicted to enter Billboard's charts at No. 1, albeit with sales considerably lower than that for her previous album "Music."

rolleyes

As soon as I read about this Madonna acapella, I could almost hear the remixers start to drool .

You could just about set your fucking watch to the time her voice was heard on KaZaA to the moment one of these "clever" remixes would show up. bored

rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes

I liked the idea better in 1996 when Junior Vasquez called it "If Madonna Calls". razz

ALMOST AS FUNNY as the performance on MTV or the lame live gig on NBS last week. Did you catch her blaming the band for her sucking on "Like a Virgin"?

That poor girl needs to be put out to pasture.

Madonna's Mtv Special Kicked ASS!!!
She performed a few new songs that kicked ass and 'Like a prayer'...plus on M2 they showed an extra performance of her 'X-static process' which is also a good one...more of a folkish pop diddy!

Madonna's interview with Matt on NBC was one of my favorite and her performance of 'Like a virgin' was funny and cute...Madonna looked great for 44 and she shook and wiggled her groove thang!

I LOVE THIS BITCH!
SHE IS THE GREATEST AND PRINCE NEEDS TO PROMOTE HIS MUSIC LIKE THIS, ATLEAST GET ON SOME SHOWS AND PERFORM THE NEW TRAX.

Maybe an MTV Special, allow the real fans to ask questions and play a few new and a couple old hits.

He should also sit down w/ Matt on Dateline and be PRINCE, Give them what Prince is all about and why we loved him in the first place instead of the odd mr. religious prince of the word...just share with us his epiphany and how its helped him along the way, but know that we all make our own decisions and its ok to dwell in the funk of the purple years!

I want this, Thanx Madonna for a few great performances and interviews to watch over and over until our Prince come back to the plantation to play for us!

can't waite for that dvd!

I loved watching Maddy sing "Like A Virgin" at that Tower Records performance. It was hilarious when she got on the floor and started rolling around just like in the old days.I cracked up when she put her hands on Mirwais' leg and told him "We'll get through this".
