I absolutely LOVE this song!! The entire 'Wanderer' album is a masterpiece, particularly Side 1."Breakdown","Grand Illusion" and "Running For Cover" all sound like they're from a movie...very dramatic and tension-filled songs!

I can't blame Moonbeam for not knowing many Donna's songs.
I was dancing to Hot Stuff BEFORE he was born. redface

Manuel,I'm really impressed with your list overall.I see that you included "Romeo".Do you know the whole story of that song and the rejected 1981 album from which it came?

Yes, I got the soundtrack to Flashdance and all these years I thought it was a one track collaboration.

Till recently (not more than 3 years) I heard about the I'm a rainbow Project which I hurriedly ordered online.

It was funny to hear all those "new" songs with the Moroder/Bellotte sound

Yeah,I bought the 'I'm A Rainbow' CD in 1996,fifteen years after it was recorded. It had been circulating as a bootleg for all those years! Geffen rejected it in '81,then sent her back into the studio with Quincy Jones to make a "replacement" album.

LOL- you don't list the 3 songs I love from that album the most. Man, I was like 5 when my brother played me those songs, and I absolutely fell in love with "Woman" and it holds a soft spot in my heart to this day. biggrin

Quincy Jones was busy that year.DONNA SUMMER (the album) is one of my favorites .

DONNA SUMMER & THRILLER have the same overall sound.
Though we know who won, don't we?

You know what? I was making this *same* point on another site.About the similarities between Donna's album and 'Thriller' (both produced by Quincy Jones).I love the 'Donna Summer' album too.The three "middle songs" on Side 2 ("Protection","If It Hurts Just A Little" and "Love Is Just A Breath Away") just blow my mind.

"Woman" has a cool R&B sound, which was a refreshing change for her,as most of her 80s singles were more "pop".But I have to tell you,I consider "People,People" to be one of her *WORST* songs ever wink

Back In Love Again

Here's a little trivia about this song."Back In Love Again" is a 1977 song that can be found on Donna's 'I Remember Yesterday' album. But it is actually a remake of an older Donna Summer song from 1974 called "Something's In The Wind".In 1977,Donna and her producers simply took the music from the 1974 song, wrote different lyrics and voila,it became "Back In Love Again".

This is one of my least favorite Donna songs.I really don't think Barbra Streisand's voice blends well with Donna. It also sounds like they're both trying to out-sing the other one...lol...these days,I can enjoy this song as a campy, late 70s novelty, but both singers have done better.

I agree. It's cute and a good listen once and a while but not one of her best. In general, I tend not to like the hits that Donna hasn't written as much (except for "Hot Stuff" and "Dinner With Gerswhin"). "Last Dance" is good but my least favorite of the big hits. And thanks for the "Back In Love Again". I think I heard something like that before. Was "Something's In the Wind" intended for "Lady Of the Night", her 1974 LP which no one has and fewer know about.

Nope,as far as I know,"Something's In The Wind" was never intended for the 1974 'Lady Of The Night' album. It was released as a B-side single in Holland, the A-side being a song called "Denver Dream".This rare single was released on Lark Records.Donna actually released several singles outside the U.S. long before her "official" 1975 debut album,'Love To Love You Baby'.For more info on these early singles,go to...

I have it too but it certaintly isn't something you see in the CD store (then again,, you don't see any of her semi-popular eighties discs like "The Wanderer" either). I don't think fans really know about it and don't reliaze it was her real debut.
