Lost Film ‘George Michael: The Faith Tour’ Set For 2026 Cinema Release Alongside New Album

Deadline reports...

George Michael: The Faith Tour, a restored and remastered feature based on a long-lost film, is being lined up for a worldwide big-screen release this year, Deadline can reveal.

George Michael Entertainment and Mercury Studios are behind the new and never-before-seen project, which will be accompanied by the release of an 18-track album of previously unheard performances by the pop icon.

Directed by longtime collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin, the new film comprises footage shot at the famous Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the European leg of the Faith Tour in 1988. The movie is made up of footage assembled from a 14-camera shoot captured on 35mm over two nights, featuring the then-24-year-old pop star at the height of his powers.

A teaser video and some new images are behind the link.

There is also a slight Prince mention.

The Prince estate could learn things from GM's estate, which is a class act the way it's handled itself over the last decade.

In the 10 years since George passed away, this is literally the only thing of value they've put effort into releasing.

That's not true, though.

Grant, GM had a small catalog. Only four studio albums, a cover album, plus the Symphonica album, a couple of compilations, and an EP (that I remember off the top of my head).

There was a reissue with Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1 which included MTV Unplugged, a 3-disk set (with a DVD). It was announced before he died, but they follows through with it. It's a nice set. (I own it.)

Older was remastered and expanded, released on Sept 2022. It included Upper, and more bonus tracks, live cuts, and remixes on extra disks.

I hope that Patience gets a nice re-release at some point. The videos were beautiful from that album.

It's just that right now, it's Faith's time to shine again. I remember GM saying on the London video that that tour would be the only in-full tour he'd release on video. So to see the Faith Tour come out is pretty sweet.

Exactly - LWP was put together by George literally just before he died. And, let's be honest, the MTV Unplugged was not appropriate for that set, as wonderful as it is.

Older was simply the album and remixes that were already released. Hell, they even labelled a Jon Douglas remix of Spinning the Wheel as "unreleased", which it wasn't, it was on a single. In the liner notes of that set, they even talked about unreleased songs and early versions, which were, of course, nowhere to be found.

The fact is, if the Estate was at all interested in making the reissues interesting (beyond the already released material), they easily could. Instead, they remaster the original album and tack on a few remixes.

This Faith Tour release is absolutely the best thing they've released (or set to release). It's finally some new content (although, granted, some of the audio will undoubtedly include some of the radio broadcast from the Paris concerts, which as been widely bootlegged).

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Perhaps. I can't imagine GM wouldn't have the master tracks to this shows. We'll see. I'm anxious to see the concert. It's such a moment in his career. But I can see why he never released the show on video.

This Is How We Want You To Get High was a good song that's unfairly overlooked because it was released to coincide with a shit movie.

what should they learn?

To re release already released songs?

They released one unknown song lol

All the songs of the re issue of Faith and Older have already been released

I don't get it somethings, the prince estate released so many unreleased songs the past years and still people say they should learn from GM's estate.
