Some Songs Turning 40 This Year

Gheezus, we're how old? I graduated in 1986, so these were senior year songs for me.

Janet - Nasty

Madonna - Papa Don't Preach

Prince - Kiss

Whitney Houston - The Greatest Love of All

Cyndi Lauper - True Colors

Anita Baker - Sweet Love

Sade - Never As Good As The First Time

Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer

Aerosmith & Run DMC - Walk This Way

Berlin - Take My Breath Away

Billy Ocean - When The Going Gets Tough

The Jets - Crush on You

Cameo - Word Up

Steve Winwood - Higher Love

Miami Sound Machine - Bad Boys

Janet - Control

Tina Turner - Typical Male

Ready For The World - Love You Down

Lionel Richie - Dancing On The Ceiling

Every day when I awake, the greatest of joys is mine: that of being ME.

I know it's still January but I wonder how many songs from 2026 will still be remembered fondly in 2066.

It's insane. It seems like yesterday I was a college sophomore listening to those songs. Approaching 60 hits different. I still get a kick out of the Billy Ocean video with Danny DeVito singing background. Lol
Don't laugh at my funk

HA, what a great memory. Danny DeVito, Michael Douglas, and Kathleen Turner. Ocean had such great 80s songs, ballads and pop hits all around.

And yeah, I graduated high school in 1986, so that's some big ass throwbacks.

Romancing The Stone is a brilliant movie. I kind of have a soft spot for Jewel Of The Nile as well but Romancing The Stone is an undisputed classic.
