Someone suggested an Indiana band, Durand Jones & the Indications' new album Flowers.

It's - dare I say - neo soul?!!! Reminds me a bit of Remy Shand, and would frankly give Maxwell a run for his money today (if he were actually making and releasing music - talk about a troubled soul).

I really enjoyed the album, and I'm a rather prickly pear with anything labeled "new" these days.

Have not gotten into that one yet but I love Wildflower. Have you heard it? Is that really Michael Jackson on Because I'm me?

Not MJ on Because I'm Me. The sample is "Why Can't I Get It Too" by Six Boys In Trouble, an old '50s record of improvised songs made by kids. How they find this stuff to sample is beyond me. There are still samples from SILY and Wildflower that are still unidentified to this day!

He used to do backup for Erykah Badu (maybe he still does sometimes?) I saw him with her at Afropunk a few years ago and knew he'd go far.

Bruce Springsteen - the Tracks 2 offering - what diversity, awesome, love it.

Van Morrison - Remembering Now - very mellow, always brings me into a good mood

Bobby Bland - Sweet Vibrator + Here we go again - I could listen to his voice endlessly on repeat - so good

Kali Uchis - Sincerely - like the flow and vibe

Kari Faux - Supplier - so far just this track, but this is headnodding cool

I just discovered that Estelle ("American Boy") released an album, Stay Alta, that is basically disco with soul. I just love it. "Oh, I" tends to get a tad repetitive, but I'm fine with it.

From one site:

"Co-written by Estelle and produced by Keith Harris, Stay Alta focuses on embracing the beauty of personal transformation. The timeless album pulls influence from Jamiroquai, N'Dea Davenport, Soul II Soul, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, and Roberta Flack."

Overall, it's a lovely, joyful, upbeat album.

In a somewhat schizophrenic manner--probably at fault due to the rather wild sociopolitical currents running in our global society at the moment:

DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ: The Other Realm

Not Breathing: The Starry Wisdom (disc "Abyss")
