RIP Sly Stone

Sad news that a great pioneer has gone.

Man, everyone has their time, but it still hits hard. You wanna talk about a brilliant and tortured artist, it was Sly. I only wish he'd continued to make some music. I wish Bootsy could've pulled him out of the basement for some collabs. Or literally anyone.

I hope he's at rest, because his music is forever his legacy and that's pretty fucking cool.

Every day when I awake, the greatest of joys is mine: that of being ME.

Couldn't have said it better. This one hits hard as Sly was (IMO) the greatest. 1st joint I went to on yesterday was Fresh and then Riot. Lord Sear had a really dope Sly mix (complete with deep and alternate cuts) on Shade 45 today and I'll be listening to Stand later this evening.

With that said, I really enjoy this live version of If You Want Me To Stay- both words in the label "tortured artist" are really emphasized in a very funky way in this clip.
