40 Years of Music: Footloose & Beverly Hills Cop There are so many iconic albums released in 1984, but I wanted to dig into these two. Footloose and Beverly Hills Cop.
Let's Hear It For The Boy - Deniece Williams Almost Paradise - Mike Reno & Ann Wilson Holding Out For A Hero - Bonnie Tyler Dancing In The Sheets - Shalamar I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man) - Kenny Loggins Somebody's Eyes - Karla Bonoff The Girl Gets Around - Sammy Hagar Never - Moving Pictures Hurts So Good - John Mellencamp Waiting For A Girl Like You (Foreigner)
Six of the songs hit the top 40, three hit the top 10, and two were number one hits, including "Footloose" and "let's Hear It For The Boy." "Almost Paradise" was number 7, and "Somebody's Eyes" was number 16 on the AC chart.

Its crazy remembering the amount of hit songs were coming from these soundtracks in the 70s, 80s and first part of the 90s "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I remember Rick James releasing a song the spring of 1985 called Can't Stop and it was the first single from the album Glow. He dedicated the song to Eddie Murphy. I always said it sounded like a song for a movie soundtrack and not a proper song for an album. Can't Stop was the worst song on Glow imo on pan otherwise solid offering from Rick James. I like "Can't Stop" Rick was reaching for a new sound ...a synth-heavy pop/rock sound and I think it worked very well. But I agree with you,Glow is a solid album from Rick and probably his most underrated album.

It seemed like the title track Glow was the only song to chart well from the album. [Edited 12/27/24 6:58am] Don't laugh at my funk

true.By that point,Rick's career was beginning to slide and the hits were coming less frequently.Oddly enough, songs he wrote and produced for others during this period ("In My House" by Mary Jane Girls,"Party All The Time" by Eddie Murphy) were doing extremely well and were all over the radio.

I dug Glow overall as an album but Can't Stop just wasn't it for me. I thought it was a weak single choice. Moonchild would have been a better lead single imo. I even liked Spend The Night which was the 3rd single from the album but that didn't do to well on the charts either. Don't laugh at my funk
