Maybe not one strictly for the hardcore Prince heads in search of something new and unheard, but for music lovers generally...it's interesting nonetheless.

Child prodigy, multi-instrumentalist, offered a recording contract in his teens...sound familiar? Like Prince, and his idol Stevie Wonder, Omar Lye Fook is one of a rare breed of artists with the ability to compose, produce, arrange and perform his entire output.

Busting onto to the early 90s UK music scene alongside fellow Acid Jazz acts such as Carleen Anderson and the Young Disciples, The Brand New Heavies, Galliano and Jamiroquai...after his breakthrough ballad gathered early interest he was signed to Talkin' Loud records.

Following early albums such as 1992s Music, Omar continued to record and perform over three decades, but never compromised his musical and artistic integrity to court mainstream success. His eclectic output won him the admiring ears of many of the industry's biggest names. He's since collaborated with Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Paul Weller, Leon Ware, Lamont Dozier and of course one of his biggest idols Stevie Wonder.

In conversation he discusses being compared to the likes of Prince and Stevie, talks influences, collaborators and the creative process, but also how he's maintained his career over the last 30 years.
