Billy Ocean - Suddenly (1984): 40th Anniversary Thread

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Billy Ocean's breakthrough album, "Suddenly". This album would feature a lot of big hits, you guys know what they are. Come post your fave song and memeories of this album

back in the day,my mother had this album.Side one is very strong.I really like his cover of the Beatles’ “The Long and Winding Road”.

"Carribean Queen" is a straight rip of "Billie Jean." I swear the Vincent Price laugh is in there, too.

It's a great album, though.

You get older and you realize that sometimes there's a guy you didn't take seriously or give enough credit. Billly Ocean for me, is one of those guys. His songs endured. They held up and still get lots of airplay. He was too polished and too 'My mom likes these songs,' for 14 year old me. But 54 year old me has to give him the nod.

Even though this was his breakthrough album,my favorite Billy Ocean song came out a few years earlier.Who remembers his 1981 jam “Nights (Feel Like Getting Down”)? That was a major R&B hit in the summer of ‘81.Love that track!!
