"Carribean Queen" is a straight rip of "Billie Jean." I swear the Vincent Price laugh is in there, too. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

You get older and you realize that sometimes there's a guy you didn't take seriously or give enough credit. Billly Ocean for me, is one of those guys. His songs endured. They held up and still get lots of airplay. He was too polished and too 'My mom likes these songs,' for 14 year old me. But 54 year old me has to give him the nod. [Edited 10/7/24 20:25pm]

Even though this was his breakthrough album,my favorite Billy Ocean song came out a few years earlier.Who remembers his 1981 jam “Nights (Feel Like Getting Down”)? That was a major R&B hit in the summer of ‘81.Love that track!!

The follow up single "Loverboy" was far more superior to "Carribean Queen", IMO. Its on my workout playlist. It did very well for him chart-wise. But people seem to forget it. Maybe because of the super-weird video with the muppets. 😅 [Edited 10/18/24 9:27am] "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
