RIP Frankie Beverly Frankie Beverly has died. A very unique band, an R&B jam band. So many great songs and before his voice went, he was an incredible live performer. Thanks for the great music!

I've been a huge fan of Frankie Beverly and Maze for many, many years.I have fond memories of the summer of '81 when their 'Live In New Orleans' double album was out.Songs like "Running Away" and of course "Before I Let Go" were all over R&B radio.Classic jams!!
Thank you,Frankie, for giving us so much.

Frankie Beverly & Maze were a part of my my musical life for so long it's hard to imagine him being gone. The love and good vibes Frankie brought into the community was hard to comprehend for those not of it. Maze only released 10 albums ( two of those live) with the last being 1993 and the black community still flocked to their concerts like they were brand new, that's love.
The "Happy Feelings" will never be forgotten. Thank you, Frankie!

I was blessed to see him perform a few times but it seems like he was always around because his music was played at every party and cookout I've ever had and been to. RIP I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I was never a fan but always respected the fact how huge they were in the black community and the large crowds they managed to draw at their shows despite not having any crossover pop success. RIP. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I always listen to Frankie Beverly and Maze ALOT in the summertime.Their music reminds me of family reunions, with BBQ on the grill, and hanging out with family members it's got that summertime vibe.

I know what you mean.In the black community,a new Frankie Beverly and Maze album was always a big deal. It's also interesting that they only released a total of 8 studio albums and 2 live albums.Their last album,Back To Basics, came out in 1993 and they never recorded another album after that.It was a good strategy, though. As you pointed out, they still had huge crowds whenever they toured.

I think their strategy highlights how music is not just about quantity but about creating timeless, emotional connections with listeners.
